Identifying one's self means showing a photo ID. How else is the cop supposed to know that person isn't lying?
I get what you are saying, but the law says what is says. That is all we can go by.

That’s not true.WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!
they have no right to identify you unless youve been arrested for a crime,,,
I corrected myself since alabama is one of the few stop and ID states,,That’s not true.
Here we go again.I corrected myself since alabama is one of the few stop and ID states,,
most states that are not stop and ID you dont have to id unless youve been lawfully arrested,,
you should try reading the laws before commenting on them,,,Here we go again.
This was wrong yesterday and is still wrong today:
You are required to give your ID if the officer has reasonable suspicion that you are committing a crime or have just committed a crime.
*Note that is NOT an arrest.
In this case, all he is entitled to is the guys name and that was given to himI'm old enough and experienced enough to know that when a cop requests identification, he wants to see a photo ID...lol
Which is NOT what you said. You said a person must be "lawfully arrested" whatever that means and that is FALSE.you should try reading the laws before commenting on them,,,
I did,,
its called reasonable articulable suspicion,,
thats not what the laws requires,,
its the same thing,, if they articulate youve committed a crime thats the same as arrest,,Which is NOT what you said. You said a person must be "lawfully arrested" whatever that means and that is FALSE.
In Hiibel v. Sixth Judicial District Court of Nevada, the Supreme Court upheld state laws requiring citizens to reveal their identity when officers have reasonable suspicion to believe criminal activity may be taking place.
It's an investigative detention, NOT an arrest.its the same thing,, if they articulate youve committed a crime thats the same as arrest,,
an investigation doesnt require me to say anything,, in fact the 5th allows me to remain silent,,,It's an investigative detention, NOT an arrest.
You should try reading the laws before commenting on them.
I could say the thing about a racist, but once I thought about it you aren't smart. Street or otherwise. For someone who claims to be black, you sure do lack street smarts...lol
Obviously, I'm smarter than you...lol.I could say the thing about a racist, but once I thought about it you aren't smart. Street or otherwise.
Yeah, you're wrong, since Jennings wasn't on his own property. In this case, all he is entitled to is the guys name and that was given to him
He has no authority to demand ID
He freaked out when he didn’t get it
It's literally the only way a person can "identify themselves". It's WHY we have photo IDs...lolthats not what the laws requires,,
Yeah, you're wrong, since Jennings wasn't on his own property.
The discrimination claim is stupid, since the cops were responding to a report. They weren't driving around and picked some random black dude to hassle.
Right and if a cop asks if you have a CCW permit, you can just say "yeah, I do" and that's the end of it.I get what you are saying, but the law says what is says. That is all we can go by.
Alabama law says provide your nameRight and if a cop asks if you have a CCW permit, you can just say "yeah, I do" and that's the end of it.
I'm not sure it's intentional, or are you dudes really this naive...lol
the law doesnt say to identify yourself it says to give name address and reason for your actions,,,It's literally the only way a person can "identify themselves". It's WHY we have photo IDs...lol
Without ID, he could say he's anybody. And the cops are just supposed to go along with it? That's just ignorant...lolDoesn’t matter
They can ask his name but not demand an ID
He provided his name as Pastor Jennings and pointed to his house.
All that is required
