Westinghouse Academy’s Sean Russell, on his ‘signing day,’ announces where he’s going to college
For Sean Russell Jr., deciding to go to college was easy. Deciding which college was hard.

Here we have a wonderful and inspirational story about a YBM, who pretty much self-motivatedly decided to kick ass academically and personally in the City of Pittsburgh public schools, indeed, in the public school with possibly the worst reputation in the area (Westinghouse). Fucking wonderful. One can only hope that he not only prevails in his quest for life success, but that he is an inspiration to many people around him, regardless of race or gender.
But note clearly that he has a highly impressive cadre of "white" sponsors and well-wishers who will provide him with literally everything he needs to succeed at the next level, with less than zero out-of-pocket. And this is fine, might one say, "social justice," on an individual basis?
But there are substantial numbers of "white, that is to say, "non-oppressed" people who with the same credentials would be pretty much on their own. Oh there would be partial scholarships and whatnot, but if they are "truly white-privileged" - you know, two parental incomes, or father is a doctor, they would be pretty much on their own.
So how is that white privilege thing working out?
