A Facebook feud spilled over into the real world last Saturday (7/9/16) in St. Louis when two men on opposite sides of the BLM debate (and knew each other through a church) settled their disagreement in real space instead of cyberspace.

Black Lives Matter Activist SHOT DEAD After Breaking Into St. Louis Police Officer's Home

"A former Affton High School football standout forced his way into a South County home and was shot and killed by an off-duty officer inside after a Facebook dispute over Black Lives Matter apparently boiled over late Saturday afternoon.

"That’s what can be pieced together from the accounts of police and an uncle of Tyler Gebhard, who said the young man had been struggling with mental health issues.

“'He walked over there and into a gunfight,' Gebhard’s uncle, Patrick Brogan said, drawing on accounts offered by friends of his nephew. 'When he got there, he was met with a gun and the guy killed him.'”

"The uncle, Patrick Brogan, 57, of Waterloo, Illinois, also said Gebhard suffered from bipolar disorder and sometimes struggled to keep up with taking his medications.

"He also said while Gebhard empathized with Black Lives Matter protesters, he did not participate in any protests.

"On Saturday afternoon, Gebhard went to the officer's home and entered it after smashing open a window with a heavy concrete planter, according to police.

"The officer was with his wife, mother-in-law and two small children when Gebhard arrived. St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar said the home's other occupants hid in another room and heard the officer tell Gebhard to 'get down, get down, get down,' followed by several gunshots.

"Gebhard was struck twice in the chest by bullets and later was pronounced dead at a hospital."

No, he broke into the house through a window and had threatened him and his family.

Gebhard, who reportedly knew the officer through a church connection, came to the front door first, but the officer’s wife recognized him and shut the door. Police say Gebhard then went around back, smashed a window with a concrete planter and entered the house.

The officer’s wife, mother-in-law and two children barricaded themselves in a bedroom and called 911 as the officer confronted Gebhard, police said in a statement. The officer gave Gebhard several verbal warnings before shooting him twice in the chest, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

not at all the story you tried to portray.

He walked into a gun fight empty handed.(apparently)
Uh huh. Look at his picture. He's a big strong man in his prime and mad as hell for some reason. He bursts into the house. The cop is there with his wife and young children. We're all real sorry he was mentally ill but seriously, I'm with the homeowner here, regardless of whether you are a cop or a BLM supporter, you protect your family.

I agree with you.
Had an enraged, bipolar cop broken into a BLM activist's home and threatened that family, the cop would have deserved the same fate. I posted this thread because of how an argument in cyberspace spilled over into the real world, and what this might portend if either Trump or Clinton moves into the White House next January.

RIP.

And by that I mean good riddance.

Walked in? Are you telling me someone breaks into your home through a window, and you tell him to get own 3 times and doesn't, after already being told to leave at the door, and your wife and kids are there, and he won't stop, you will hope he doesn't have a weapon, or isn't hyped up on some drug, and not respond? Please.
