I remember when the changeover started in the United States with the massive expansions of social benefits. Food Stamps became corrupted quickly. There were people in my neighborhood selling them... one dollar of food stamps for fifty cents. People coming from other communities into our supermarkets because none existed in their own with huge cars, dressed to the nines and paying for food with food stamps. The truth! Early/mid 1970's.
