A) they bring poverty with them: Well, maybe, but the poverty already exists already in the US and who is doing anything about it? No one. So, complaining about poverty when you're doing nothing about existing poverty, doesn't help your argument.

B) Desperation: As if there isn't already massive amounts of desperation in the US. In fact many immigrants are also being hope that Americans have forgotten about.
