Outrage is growing in California against newly approved sex education materials in public schools.

“It’s shocking,” Rebecca Friedrichs, the founder of For Kids & Country, told The Christian Post.


She said one school had 10- and 11-year-old girls participate in a “condom race” in which they ran, in front of male classmates, to be the first to put a condom on a model of an erect adult male penis.



“I always tell people that the scary thing is, I’ll give radio interviews and I can’t even say on the radio things that are being taught in our elementary and middle school classrooms in mixed company. There’s something very wrong there,” she said.



Friedrichs has helped to organize several local and state-wide parent protests against the new materials.



Concerns center around changes approved by the California Board of Education in May. The programs are supposed to comply with the 2015 California Healthy Youth Act, “which mandates the teaching of ‘medically accurate’ and ‘age appropriate’ comprehensive sex education at least once in middle school and once in high school,” according to the report.

That's your problem if you made any assumptions just from a photo. Does it show them as the actual girls running to stick rubbers or hard dicks? What would be the basis of suing for a photo that is already in widespread use over the internet? I don't imagine you find very much hard to swallow.

Home schooling programs are cheap compared to school systems, which of course makes one wonder why they don't just use them in public schools as well, since they're much cheaper, except for the high school level labs and that sort of equipment. And besides, the Feds are paying an increasingly small percentage of local school districts' funding anyway, ours gets around 10%, low enough to tell them to take their ridiculous demands elsewhere and shove them.

Yeah cause they're workbooks. Like the kind of workbooks we did in the 70s and 80s that parents who are not teachers think work great, cause we did them in the 70s and 80s.

Then these parents think, "hey I went to public school and hated it..." but they somehow think using the VERY SAME METHODS they did is a win.

you know. I just shake my head.

Actually when I went to school it was only a supplement to what I had to learn at home; we were reading before we got sent to first grade. School is where we learned Greek and Roman prefixes and suffixes and their meanings, so that reading later was a lot easier when you could look at 'big words' and generally guess what they meant before looking them up, and we used a lot of those boring memorization techniques; none of my teachers or my parents felt they had some sort of duty to entertain us and that we had to like anything.

Sure. Hating what you're doing is such a motivator. I mean everyone knows at work, the best workers are those who absolutely hate their jobs.....right?

If you think about it, school used to prepare you for the world, college was a separate, optional thing some people went to for additional specialized training for particular advanced fields. Now school only prepares you for college and it is assumed that college will prepare you for the world. Yet even these grads are often still only poorly educated in many basic things.

When you really look at it, the average 4 year college grad of today is still rather an idiot about most things with only a narrowly functional understanding about a few things specifically pertaining to their field. In effect, a close examination of education shows that at one time, grade school produced a very well rounded individual capable of going in many directions that is equivalent to the 4 year college grad of today. In contrast, the high school grad of today is more akin to the 8th grader of yesteryear.

So when an employer says "4-year degree" required, they are really speaking of the grad of today. What we have created in the USA is a self-serving system whereby first the taxpayer is ransacked of money for 12 years then forced into a bloated educational system one of the most expensive in the world yet providing an education about 20th on the list that keeps the taxpayer in debt almost their entire lives in order to get educated enough to open a door into a very narrow, limited field which is increasing paying less and less to where not only isn't healthcare no longer included, but it requires BOTH parents to work to afford to get by!

And of course, since both parents are working, neither can be home educating their children themselves, must pay for daycare, thereby further making them dependent on the system.

the right wing insists on making sure working people can't survive any more on one income earner.

I'm not sure who to blame. Not sure you can pin it on just the right wing or the left or the government or the schools. It seems to be a group effort, no matter who is in charge or power, nothing changes. One thing is for certain: they have made it essential that you play in the system or you just don't get a job because the same people educating you are also the ones behind the hiring. They all work together.

You are kept in debt your entire lives, more and more cannot even find jobs or repay their loans, it takes all you have just to keep nose above the water, while much of the rest of the civilized world does much better and offers good education for a fraction of the cost or even free, and six weeks vacation a year starting out! Americans are getting bilked while those in the system get rich.

The only Central American country that's Socialist is Nicaragua. Honduras has some aspects of socialism in the sense we do too.
