weakness invites aggression. it's not just Taiwan at stake, it's America and THE WHOLE WORLD. Wake up, America!

Is that why the US blocked vital microchips manufactured in the US (with Biden's 50 billion investment) to China?

Taiwan would kick their asses

I saw on 60 Minutes that if China tried to take over the semiconductor plants, they wouldn’t know what to do with them.

It would be like taking over the kitchen of a gourmet chef and expecting to produce gourmet food

If they were going to atack anytime soon, I don't see why they would wait for a re-election to do so, they would attack while Russia is in Ukraine and European countries like France for instance, seems to be wavering. Xi even calked our Germany for "neutral" support of China when dealing with Taiwan. That's a bold public statement.

Nobody believes that. Not even you.

All they need do is sit on them to cripple us. They could play tiddly-winks with the chips and it would still cripple us.

Doesn't matter. We would still be crippled.

It's time to begin putting the American Economy on a War Footing.

That means everything of a strategic or important tactical nature gets made here.

Here.

Not Taiwan.

Or mainland China.

Here.

And if that means forcing American -based companies to scoop-up their manufacturing plants and moving them back here again... so be it.

It needs to get done yesterday... there's not a moment to lose.

In fact most high end processors (300nm) are manufactured in The US and Israel.

While Taiwan makes the most lower end ICs. South Korea, Japan, the US, and China collectively make more than Taiwan.

China has never participated in major modern warfare
China has never executed an amphibious landing
Taiwan has been preparing for an invasion for 75 years

Look at Russia with tanks massed at their border to invade Ukraine. Their invasion ground to a halt.

Now look at China trying to invade over 100 miles of ocean and tell me how easy it is

China made moves toward to make other nations think that they were going to invade Taiwan right about the time Russia invaded Ukraine.

They didn't invade. They would likely lose and even if they succeeded it would be a phyrrhic victory. They know this and never had or have any real intention of invading Taiwan. They seem to have a very lose and shaky agreement with Russia but that is weak and only for temporary convenience. The truth is China and Russia hate and mistrust each orher far mmore than they hate or mistrust anyone else. Even with the situation in Ukraine Russia keeps half of it's military near the Siberian Chinese border. They will never have a permanent trusting alliance with China.

Taiwan is to China like Cuba is to the US. A minor annoyance which they would like to fix but not worth invading. What China desperately NEEDS is space and resources which Taiwan does not have in great abundance. They would much rather have theri military force do a left face and invade Siberia which has massive space and resources, Plus such an invasion would not require difficult and far more expensive amphibious landings.

It is good to be wary of CHinese moves towards Taiwan but it is very unlikely to ever happen. The Russians have far more to fear especially if they lose in Ukraine.

A lot of world cargo trade goes through the Taiwan area. China controlling that is a plum. Less nosiness and interference from other nations.

No it is not a plum they desperately rely on that trade and cannot afford to interfere with it

Question is can Taiwan's coastal and air defensed hold.

Taiwan stands to lose more from the emergence of China as a 21st-century superpower than any other country in the world. China’s rise to become the world’s second largest political, economic, and military power threatens the interests of many nations, but only Taiwan has its life at stake. Only Taiwan is held at risk of seeing its trade lines severed, its cities bombed, and its shores invaded. Only Taiwan faces the possibility of having its president assassinated and its democracy destroyed. Only Taiwan could be transformed into an Orwellian police state. The PRC is actively planning and preparing for these scenarios. China’s authoritarian government challenges many countries in many ways, but it appears to only have plans for the invasion and occupation of Taiwan
