I used to teach the kids clapping games. The physical hand coordination requires more through and keeps the mind off the fears they might have. It also bring a lot of laughing which boosts serotonin in the brain to fight depression.
In these days I expect shelters should have a stock of DVDs or downloads of three stooges and marx brothers videos. Silent moves with keystone cops and buster keaton are good as well. These movies are show to hospital patients to make them laugh. Laughter is medicine.
