Were they MAGA?

Columbus Day: U.S. capitalism built on slavery, genocide - Liberation News

"After returning to Spain and reporting on the incredible wealth in the islands of the 'New World,' the monarchs gave Columbus 17 ships and more than 1,200 men to plunder the Caribbean. His new expedition went from island to island gathering slaves and gold with unprecedented brutality.

"Opening the continent to slavery

"Columbus was the first European slave trader in the Americas.

"He sent more slaves across the Atlantic Ocean than any individual of his time-about 5,000."

"Today’s 'woke' culture, which has held Columbus accountable for the chain of disasters that followed in his wake in the Caribbean and South America is not only unfair to him, but it overlooks the essence of the man.

"Not of Spanish culture, Columbus was at heart a simple but ambitious individualist -- a seafaring explorer and evangelist.

"He had neither interest in founding colonies nor was he an effective leader and administrator of strong-headed hidalgos that undertook setting up colonial outposts at the behest of Isabella."

Columbus was a capitalist who saw no problem with profiting from human slavery; the institution he helped augment has endured for five centuries based on principles of genocide and colonization.

Columbus Day: U.S. capitalism built on slavery, genocide - Liberation News

"To celebrate Columbus is to celebrate a legacy of genocide, slavery, rape and plunder.

"It commemorates the violent and bloody accumulation of capital for the ruling classes of Europe and, later, the U.S.o_O

"When he landed in the islands now known as the Bahamas, Columbus encountered the Arawak Indians, whose kindness and generosity he noted in his journal and letters.

"Columbus quickly took a group of Arawaks captive, hoping they could lead him to gold.

"He then sailed to Hispaniola-Haiti and the Dominican Republic-where he enslaved even more Indians."

I thought you commie leftards loved foreigners invading and occupying America. So why not Columbus?

Was he not dark enough for you or something?

What happened in the Americas is nothing compared to what happened to Spain. Britain, France and Spain vied for top dog at that time. Spain took the gold from the American areas they were in and brought it back to the homeland. They then let the gold out into the land and it screwed them up. To much of it was all over the place as a precious metal used for transactions. The ended up with "pieces of eight", coins cut into bits. and it set Spain back. There are people who believe they still suffer in the modern age because of it. Fiat currencies do the same thing when abused.

georgephillip the indigenous people did the same thing long before the whites came---but the indigenous people TORTURED--even the kids participated--per their culture ---and they sacrificed LIVE humans --much WORSE than what the Spanish did

Silver had similar effects for Spain and China.
From 1500 to 1800 Bolivia and Mexico produced about 80% of global silver with 30% ending up in China.
China's demand apparently stemmed from its shift from paper money to coins in the early period of the Ming Dynasty.

Global silver trade from the 16th to 19th centuries - Wikipedia

"The ultimate destination for much of the silver produced in the Americas and Japan was China.[17]

"Silver from the Americas flowed mostly across the Atlantic and made its way to the Far East.[10]

"A popular route was around the Cape of Good Hope into the east, and sometimes it came over land.[10]

"Major outposts for the silver trade were located in Southeast Asian countries, such as the Spanish Philippines.[18]

"The city of Manila served as a primary outpost of the exchange of goods between the Americas, Japan, India, Indonesia and China.[18]

"However, there is a large amount of silver that was transported across the vast Pacific Ocean directly from the Americas as well, via the famed Manila Galleons.[17]

"There are not many records of the amount of silver which crossed the Pacific due to it being discouraged by the Spanish monarchy, so estimates highly vary.[13]"

When did indigenous American capitalists transport thousands of European slaves across the Atlantic?

"He and his men captured and enslaved the Arawak people almost as soon as they landed. Some were sent to Spain and others served Columbus on the islands.

"In 1496, Columbus jubilantly wrote Spain’s King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella about the possibilities for exploitation in the West Indies: 'In the name of the Holy Trinity, we can send from here all the slaves and brazil wood which could be sold.'"

plain-simple-undeniable: the indigenous peoples did the same things:
warred on/displaced/decimated/conquered others/ENSLAVED/etc....but they also TORTURED per culture --even the kids participated-----and they sacrificed LIVING humans - worse than what the whites did/etc
......they did it on a smaller scale because they were inferior ...but murdering one person, does not make you better than someone who murders 5 people ......

You avoided my question.
Here's another:

Columbus Day: U.S. capitalism built on slavery, genocide - Liberation News

"In Hispaniola, Columbus and the Spanish set up a system that made every Indian over the age of 14 responsible for gathering a certain amount of gold each month.

"They received copper tokens to hang around their necks if they succeeded. If an Indian was caught without a token, the Spanish cut off their hands and let them bleed to death."

When did indigenous Americans do anything similar to Europeans?

.you people don't know shit about history--you just parrot CNN/etc
What's the extent of your knowledge of History?

"Captain John Smith from England helped colonize what is now the U.S. state of Virginia for profit.

"In 1624, he glowingly referenced the Spanish method for dealing with indigenous people: '… you have twenty examples of the Spaniards [and] how they got the West Indies and forced the treacherous and rebellious infidels to do all manner of drudgery work and slavery for them, themselves living like soldiers off the fruits of their labors.'

"The model of limitless brutality to accumulate resources can be seen through out U.S. history."

C actually was a hero.
He went very deep into uncharted seas and probably thought it was a suicide mission
That is courage

The native Aztec hordes just loved to cut your heart out with a knife for their blood lust gods
Killing hundreds a day

You have ignored every one of my specific examples of European terrorism perpetrated on the opposite side of the planet from the homelands for GOLD.

Europeans murdered millions of indigenous Americans for sport and profit; when did indigenous Americans commit any similar offenses?

If Americans didn't mine an acceptable quota of gold or silver, Europeans cut off the Americans' hands and watched him bleed to death; when have the Americans done the same the same to Europeans?

How much GOLD did Americans earn for their crimes?

Columbus Day: U.S. capitalism built on slavery, genocide - Liberation News

"Sexual slavery was also widespread among the Spanish settlers. In 1500, Columbus wrote: 'A hundred castellanoes are as easily obtained for a woman as for a farm, and it is very general and there are plenty of dealers who go about looking for girls; those from nine to ten are now in demand.'"
