Donald Trump read from an article ripped from Sputnik News, the Kremlin-backed news outfit, that misattributed quotes to a Hillary Clinton adviser to make the case at a Monday rally that her advisors thought she could have “done something” about the Benghazi attacks.

Speaking in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Trump held an article print-out in the air and made reference to Clinton confidante Sidney Blumenthal.

“He’s now admitting they could have done something about Benghazi,’’ Trump said, as quoted by Newsweek. “This just came out a little while ago.”

“Clinton was in charge of the State Department, and it failed to protect U.S. personnel at an American consulate in Libya. If the GOP wants to raise that as a talking point against her, it is legitimate,” Trump read from the article before dropping it on the ground dramatically.

But the words Trump was reading didn't come from Blumenthal. Instead, he was reading a brief excerpt of an article from Newsweek’s Kurt Eichenwald, which Blumenthal had emailed to John Podesta, Clinton’s campaign chairman whose hacked emails have been published in part this week on Wikileaks.

Sputnik News seemed to realize their attribution mistake, taking the article off the web Monday, the same day it was published.

Trump, on the other hand, used the words inaccurately attributed to Blumenthal to prosecute a case on stage against Clinton. The crowd chanted “Lock her up!” in response to Trump’s account.

Comrade Trump is so easily duped by a Russian web site. Good Grief! The man is as slow as a wet rock!

You seem quite proud of your hitlery killing those four Americans.....

You seem quite proud of your hitlery killing those four Americans.....

She was investigated for years over Benghazi and she finally made the GOP hit squad look like idiots. The purpose of this thread it to illustrate that Comrade Trump is feeding off of Russia and depending on stolen emails that were hacked by Russia. He even encouraged Russia to Hack his opponents emails.

And you are okay with that? Whatever you say Comrade Owebo...

Link to the four people hitlery killed in Benghazi being alive?

Clinton shot Kennedy, Russia says so.

And yet these people still wonder why they couldn't beat Obama and now Clinton? They never fucking learn.

Two really important points are:

Sputnik released the article in question improbably quickly after the Podesta email dump. It seems they had them before wikileaks put them out.

Someone put that article in Trump's hands about as soon as it came out on Sputnik.

Yup, his butt buddy, Pooootin probably emailed it to him. Comrade Trump needs someone, on staff, to fact check his lies.

I disagree, jim. Comrade Trump isn't duped at all. It's just his rabid supporters that are, and he knows their buttons. I'm not sure what they want for America exactly, since Trump seldom, if ever, finishes a sentence before moving on to something else and his topics jump around like water on a hot greased skillet. But the thought of military purges, journalists sued (are bloggers included?), opponents hounded and persecuted as well as prosecuted, ethnic, cultural and religious division scares the hell out of me. When I see the "Lock her up" crowd, and that idiot woman who predicts revolution to Pence, I gag at the hatred this man encourages. Has anyone ever, EVER, threatened Trump with physical repercussions and indictment for his rhetoric. I think if Trump wins, his supporters will soon learn what 'having the tiger by the tail' means. He is like "Audrey" and if they don't feed him others, he will eat them.
