A minimum wage proposal by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) would cut the number of impoverished people by hundreds of thousands but cause even more lost jobs, according to a new analysis from Congress's scorekeeper.

It would cut poverty by huge amounts, for about 8 or 9 months. Then those people will be right back where they were.

If you raise non skilled labor wages then skilled labor has to increase also to match the increase. Products would also cost more because the companies making those products have to increase their spending, not to mention once companies know people make more they will charge more.

80 years ago people made what would be considered criminally low wages today, but a loaf of bread was 15 cents also. Raising wages today is just chasing numbers. You could make minimum wage 40 dollars an hour but poor people will still be poor because a loaf of bread will cost 17 dollars.

This is how Bernie survives. By telling people what they want to hear. He tells Starbucks employees they deserve 20 dollars for pouring coffee, he tells young people they need unions to get more money, he tells young people they deserve everything just for showing up, and he writes books and gives speeches about how bad capitalism is meanwhile you have to buy his book and buy tickets to his speeches. Bernie doesn't actually do anything, he just pretends like he does. Just like he used to hate millionaires but once he became a millionaire then he started hating billionaires. He is an old fraud and nothing more.

I say get rid of minimum wage. Let the employee and employer negotiate everything from vacation time to pay. Since it's so unbelievably easy to find workers today the wages will.go down or even better the lower paying jobs will go away on their own.
