Classified Advertising Site Backpage.com ‘s Trial Date Set For 2020

A January 2020 trial has been set for the founders of the classified advertising site Backpage.com and five of the site’s employees in what federal authorities have described as a scheme to knowingly publish ads for sexual services and launder money earned for the ads.

Founders Michael Lacey and James Larkin and the five employees have pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.

Backpage has been turned off for quite some time now. They were investigated and the owners indicted because they would charge for ads, of which were being used to sell the services of people who were victims of human trafficking.

A new law was passed recently that places like Craigslist could be held accountable if illegal activities take place through their ads, so they also took down their personals sections.

No, they actually seized the entire site as part of the indictment on the owner...

Backpage.com founders, others indicted on prostitution-related charges

Can someone explain to me why this is the governments bidness at all?

If someone searched for a professional sex partner for his home video collection, would that be porn or prostitution by law?

Sadly some don't realize just how many people that are partaking in prostitution are victims of sexual slavery and human trafficking.

There is a huge difference between prostitution in a place like Nevada, and paying for someone's services on a place like Backpage.

LISK…check it out.

Ok never mind. You mean the Long Island Serial Killer that has been dumping the bodies of prostitutes along a stretch of beach side road in Long Island over several years.

Of course there was also the Craig's List killer as well.

Maybe they are just trying to make enough money to move to Nevada...

I don't care if I have to pay for sex, hell I've had to pay for no sex, which should be a crime in itself..
