The Democrats know they do not have a candidate who can defeat him in this economy.

They know their only option, as in 2016, is to successfully carry out the political coup now they failed to affect in 2016.

He said that if Trump wasn't impeached, that he would use it as a campaign slogan against the Dems, saying that because they didn't impeach him, he's been vindicated, because the Dems have a majority in the House.

The real reason is that democrats truly believed that Bush was the last Republican president ever. Already enough of the population had been replaced that a Republican would never get significant votes. It was over. It was 100 percent democrat rule. Forever.
