As the article points out, the proposal includes the Mexican army training the vigilantes. It also seems they might be legitimized in 13 of Mexico's 31 states. Will that happen here in the US when governors turn to vigilante groups to help control what the Feds aren't?

Mexicos drug war isnt just a conflict between the government and heavily-armed cartels. Theres a third faction: vigilantes who have proliferated across nearly half of Mexicos states and dozens of municipalities, and who operate in the space between the law and the lawless. Now the vigilantes are getting legalized.
