Darknss in Tahrir Square.......

Opinion: Gang rapes, the dark side of Egypt's protests - CNN.com

Tahrir Square's Darkness........

"Last week, a 22-year-old Dutch journalist was gang-raped in Tahrir Square and had to undergo surgery for severe injuries. The assault reminds us yet again of an often overlooked aspect of the Egyptian revolution.

When Egyptians overthrew their dictator in 2011, one of the first celebratory acts in Tahrir Square included the gang beating and sexual assault of American journalist Lara Logan, who, like the Dutch journalist, landed in the hospital.

The Logan rape has always been portrayed as another unfortunate byproduct of mob violence. In fact, it was much more than that. It was a warning shot fired by men whose political beliefs are founded on a common pillar: Women must stay out of the public square.

One of the hallmarks of revolutionary victory in Tahrir Square has always been rape and sexual harassment. Mobs of men routinely set upon women, isolating, stripping and groping. No one is ever arrested or held accountable, and elected officials shrug their shoulders and blame the victims."

While women can be gang-raped in public with impunity, there IS no 'democracy'. Not under Mubarak, not under Morsi - and evidently not under the next figurehead.

This is how the Egyptians have always been, its just being show cased more now.

drinking and eating and dancing and singing are all considered---

"The trooper claimed to smell marijuana in the car and called a female trooper to search the women’s body parts for drugs, despite numerous pleas from the ladies.

“The male officer, his words verbatim were, ‘We’re gonna get familiar with your womanly parts,” Hamilton told KXAN.

“You’re going to go up my private parts?” a surprised Hamilton asked trooper Jennie Bui, who responded with “Yes, ma’am.”

The trooper’s dash camera recorded the roadside cavity search and depicts Hamilton’s alarmed expression as the female trooper touched her ‘private parts’ and inserted a finger into her genitalia. The trooper used the same pair of gloves to search the genital regions of both women. Randle can be heard crying uncontrollably as she is probed."

Evidently harassment of women is widespread in Egypt - and a problem which numerous different administrations have refused to bother themselves about.

Israeli news sources have no credibility. They are just demonizing their enemies.

Egyptian man disguised as woman is harassed

Bold experiment sheds light on testing daily experience of women on streets of Cairo as both tradition of patriarchy, political turmoil take toll on social climate

Associated Press

FYI: that's a film clip from an Egyptian TV channel. And the actor dressed as a man is an Egyptian: so's the cameraman. As anyone not so stupidly bigoted as to refuse to read the article would have realized......

"As he strolled, Mr. Hammad, who wore light makeup to conceal hints of facial hair and accentuate his eyes, was hissed at and verbally abused. In one instance – when he was wearing a head veil – he was taken for a prostitute and offered up to 4,000 Egyptian pounds ($575 US) for one night. His report aired earlier this month on Awel el Kheit or “the Thread” on the private TV station ONTV. "

Whenever someone is so idiotic as to deny the basic facts - such as where a report originates! - they demonstrate such extreme inability to reason that anything else they "think" isn't exactly credible.

I hope the 'Christian pacifist humanitarian person of conscience' will deign to open some of the links in my last post: as can be seen, they originate from many *non-Israeli* sources so she can keep her vow to never open an 'Israeli new source', LOL

Trying to deny the well-documented epidemic of rape and other sexual harassment of women in Egypt simply as an exercise in seeking to demonize "Israeli news sources" was a particularly loathsome and filthy gambit.

I don't think it gets any lower than that, turning one's back on other women in agony and anguish......... Why? because NOTHING matters, nothing at all - except a chance to take a (cheap and worthless!) shot at one's obsession, one's perennial target.......

80 sexual assaults in one day ? the other story of Tahrir Square | World news | guardian.co.uk

Such crimes have been endemic at Tahrir protests since at least the 2011 revolution, but they have never been documented in such high numbers.

"It's been underreported because a lot of people are unwilling to come forward," said Bahgat, "and because no one wanted to disturb the sanctity of Tahrir."

In a typical attack, lines of men push their way through the packed square, surround lone women, and start ripping at their clothes until they are naked. Some women have been violated by men using their hands.

"Suddenly, I was in the middle, surrounded by hundreds of men in a circle that was getting smaller and smaller around me," one woman has written of the experience. "At the same time, they were touching and groping me everywhere and there were so many hands under my shirt and inside my pants."

"We call it the circle of hell," said Bahgat, who herself narrowly escaped assault this week.

Journalist Dina Zakaria Says Dutch Reporter Was Raped In Tahrir Square During Egyptian Protests

UPDATE: 7/2/2013 "*The Dutch Embassy in Cairo*issued a statement on Monday*confirming the attack, saying the victim was a 22-year-old female but not releasing her name. "A Dutch woman of 22 was attacked in Tahrir Square on Friday evening," the statement read. "The Netherlands Embassy has assisted the victim, and after receiving emergency treatment in a Cairo hospital, she was repatriated to the Netherlands in the company of family. The victim has cooperated with an investigation started by the Egyptian authorities. In the interest of the privacy of the victim, no further information will be given." Journalist Dina Zakaria Says Dutch Reporter Was Raped In Tahrir Square During Egyptian Protests

How would Dina Zakaria know anything about things going on in Tahrir square?

"Dina Zakaria is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood and a representative of the Freedom and Justice Party, the newly-created party linked to the conservative Islamic Party."

I dont think she would go anywhere near the square
The Netherlands Embassy in Cairo makes no mention of rape, but rather an attack

That's completely false and more S&M baseless slander.

Even Arabs have Always listened to Israeli News for the truth.
Now at least they have al-jazeera instead of their own lying governments.
But Israel's credibility has always been good.... Unlike the Baghdad Bobs and assorted dictators/Butchers that have ruled the Arab world.
Even most [other] anti-Israel bigots will tell you to read ie, Ha'aretz.
Israel's press is answerable to it's democratic public, Not the government.
