Debate #3: What's the point?

So Peneta knew the next day it was a militant terrorist attack, but they just kept that to themselves for our own good right? And then sent a mouth piece out to tell the world it was all over a video.

No matter how you clowns that think Obama's handling of this is somehow presidential you just can't spin shit into gold.

Befor this I just thought he was a good guy in the wrong job,now its clear he has little honor.

Just another opportunity for Romney to kick Obama's sorry ass over the Benghazi disgrace...er, excuse me...the Benghazi murders that weren't "Optimal".

Well, maybe he can bring up the "optimal" quote and get his smacked right back when the President talks about the whole interview. Then maybe Rmoney can get another smack by the Prez by getting reminded of what HE said right after the attacks:

"I'm outraged by the attacks on American diplomatic missions in Libya and Egypt and by the death of an American consulate worker in Benghazi," Mr. Romney said in a statement that went out just before 10:30 p.m. "It's disgraceful that the Obama administration's first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks."

Thinks he wants to be reminded of that in front millions on live TV?

No.. Stuff like THIS is the point. That Obama is entertaining on Jon Stewart doesn't get the job of securing American interests and her people done.

Documents show Stevens worried about Libya security threats, Al Qaeda before consulate attack

Across 166 pages of internal State Department documents -- released Friday by a pair of Republican congressmen pressing the Obama administration for more answers on the Benghazi terrorist attack -- slain U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and the security officers assigned to protect him repeatedly sounded alarms to their superiors in Washington about the intensifying lawlessness and violence in Eastern Libya, where Stevens ultimately died.

"Islamist extremists are able to attack the Red Cross with relative impunity," Stevens cabled. "What we have seen are not random crimes of opportunity, but rather targeted and discriminate attacks." His final comment on the two-page document was: "Attackers are unlikely to be deterred until authorities are at least as capable."
By Sept. 4, Stevens' aides were reporting back to Washington on the "strong Revolutionary and Islamist sentiment" in the city.
Scarcely more than two months had passed since Stevens had notified the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice and other agencies about a "recent increase in violent incidents," including "attacks against western interests." "Until the GOL (Government of Libya) is able to effectively deal with these key issues," Stevens wrote on June 25, "the violence is likely to continue and worsen."
After the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi had been damaged by an improvised explosive device, earlier that month, Stevens had reported to his superiors that an Islamist group had claimed credit for the attack, and in so doing, had "described the attack as targeting the Christians supervising the management of the consulate."
"Islamic extremism appears to be on the rise in eastern Libya," the ambassador wrote, adding that "the Al-Qaeda flag has been spotted several times flying over government buildings and training facilities ..."

I don't think the GOP have much currency to gain from the Libya incident anymore. Sure, you have the diehard trolls still yipping like braindead chihuahuas about it, but Obama has already said that they did not handle it as well as possible.

shame, that. bleating about it now will look silly.

It's understandable why you wingnuts feel the need to harp on this. After your Fast 'n' Furious smear job laid an egg what else do ya got?

You look pretty pathetic, though. Nobody else really cares about all this minutiae except...well...wingnuts.

:)

If you had been listening to Republicans or watching Fox News in recent weeks, you knew that what Romney said wasn’t simply an off-the-cuff or clumsy error. For weeks now, opponents of the administration have been trying to paint the Benghazi attack not just as a possible security or intelligence failure that resulted in the deaths of Americans abroad, but as a scandal that the Obama administration tried to cover-up.

How The Benghazi Attack Became A GOP Talking Point | TPMMuckraker

This debate will be a good chance for President Obama to explain why if as he claimed he said the Libya attack was a terrorist attack on September 12th then why did different members of his administration claim for several day's after that it was a spontaneous response to the youtube video the most notable one who went on five Sunday morning talk shows and claimed this.

The two things happened around the same time.

Is it so ridiculous to think that some may have thought it was a spontaneous act of terrorism based on the video?

The baclklash for the video was very harsh. Or is that kind of rumination impossible fo Gop droolers?

Yes it is, when you have the CIA station chief's memo on your desk it most CERTAINLY IS!

I love how every gooper has intimate knowledge of exactly what transpired, in what order, and how it all SHOULD have worked.

I think the Obama campaign set this up beautifully.

The last debate pits POTUS (who gets a security briefing every day) with Mitt Romney who will get 1 courtesy briefing.

One of the most successful FP presidents in modern history, working with his 'Co-president' Hilary Clinton, is debating a businessman who embarrasses himself every time he leaves the country.

I predict that the President will be pulled away in the middle of the debate to oversee a mission to capture the terrorists responsible for the Benghazi attack.

Mitt will stand there talking to himself. Joe Biden will walk on stage, laugh at him and say, "Please proceed, Governor..."

i doubt he set up losing the first debate...

but mittens is pretty embarrassing when they let him speak unrehearsed.

actually, what seems to have happened is that what occurred was the reverse of what they thought occurred. apparently, the video was an excuse for terrorist action. the action didn't arise spontaneously, as it seems they believed.

either way... the issue won't change any minds either way if romney doesn't actually lie about it.
