I'm really surprised anyone is asking that question at this point. Fear / panic is a huge tool used by governments and powers, who use it for their advantage. Large gatherings are currently prohibited in a one mile radius of New York and being enforced by the national guard.

Other place like California are also mandating orders against assembly of large groups.

The governor of my state today banned large gatherings of 250 people or more in my city and surrounding areas. Which is a very large area of the state but we are ground zero for the virus in America.

As a people we probably have to be less political on this issue. And realize that human history is full of crisis whether by nature or man made. As a nation of many ethnic and cultural backgrounds we need to cool our jets a bit. Easier said then done. The fact is also, that we have a percentage of the population not healthy and may be more in the cross hairs of this virus. This one will not be forgotten for a while. Maybe we will laugh about it if it fizzles out. Although not for the people and families affected.

I'm not a defeatist. Just because you might not follow what the experts and governor of your state are saying doesn't mean everyone is like you.

Most people are taking this seriously. You can make all the excuses you want or say that it's useless all you want but luckily, not everyone is like you.

Watching the news today and they said officially a pandemic. Maybe it's because I live in a small city 80mi from any city of any size but I don't know anyone who has the coronavirus. I had the flu in December that went to pneumonia but nobody called it the coronavirus. Do the members here know anyone that has it or are we victims of a scare campaign? Not that I don't trust everything I hear from the government but I am skeptical when someone or something is panic the whole country.

I was talking about the use of fear/panic by powers in general, I made no comment whatsoever on the corona virus. You seemed genuinely perplexed on why any government would want the public to fear and panic, which I found incredibly naive.
