Gee. This flies in the face of all those "Issa is done like dinner" threads.

:lmao:

I love moments like this at USMB.

Democrat Who Said IRS Scandal Was Solved Backtracks: It's Not Solved

From the article...:eusa_whistle:

Now, Cummings is "clarifying" his remarks and has admitted that the issue in fact isn't solved while accusing Republicans who want answers of a "witch hunt."

Rep. Elijah Cummings is backing away from his assertion that the investigation into the IRS scandal is “solved” and says he still wants to work with Republicans on the probe.

In a brief interview with POLITICO on Wednesday, Cummings said that he was trying to argue that — contrary to some GOP comments — the investigation has proven the Obama administration didn’t order the IRS to target conservative groups applying for a tax exemption.

“The witch hunt needs to end,” said Cummings, who is the top Democrat on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. “What I meant was the witch hunt.”

And TA DAH!! :eusa_angel:

Cummings said the investigation isn’t over and he’s open to interviewing additional Cincinnati-based IRS employees and holding more hearings on the scandal.

Nothing like a good liberal walk-back to shut the mouths of the USMB lefties!

What I find the most remarkable about the reactions by liberals on the IRS scandal is despite coming off as complete and utter buffoons by spouting the most ridiculous talking points, they just continue to rattle off their bullshit.

In another "Issa's investigation is dead in the water" thread tonight I put up the new buzz that Paz may have been terminated joining the ranks of other high ranking officials who have met their demise over this issue.

From my other post.

Did the IRS Fire Holly Paz?

An IRS source says that the Internal Revenue Service has fired Holly Paz, the director of the agency’s Rulings and Agreements office. The source says Paz was fired last Friday, and a second IRS source tells National Review Online that Paz “dropped off the edge of the world” that day, and that her agency-issued computer, phone, and Blackberry show no activity since then.

Looky looky who is gone from the IRS so far. Ta dah!

Others have either retired or been placed on administrative leave, including Washington lawyer Carter Hull, who has been accused of micromanaging the processing of tea-party cases, and who, according to IRS sources, requested his retirement package on March 12;

:eusa_whistle:

Joseph Grant, the commissioner of the agency’s Tax-Exempt and Government Entities division and Lois Lerner’s boss, who retired on June 3 just days after receiving a promotion;

:eusa_whistle:

former IRS commissioner Steven Miller, who resigned days after news of the scandal broke;

:eusa_whistle:

and the director of the IRS’s Exempt Organizations division, Lois Lerner, who was placed on paid administrative leave after refusing to tender her resignation.

YUP! ...and as usual, all we will hear from the left is --- "W" and/or "nothing to see here, move along."

Sounds like Cummings is trying to help Issa save face.

Nope. Looks like the Democrats are trying to save face.

Bingo. Cummings would have found himself off the committee for trying to undermine its investigation.

A big "oops" moment for the brain dead left on this site. How many times did they post that idiotic Democratic memo as if it were some official finding of Congress? Let's see if they have the stones to come on this thread and admit they were wrong.

Sounds like Cummings is trying to help Issa save face.

Not really.

The underlying problem is still there.

The IRS has a different regulation regarding 501cs then the law.

The two haven't been comported. The IRS actually broke the law giving the Tea Party 501c status.

Maybe you could quote the law that says they broke the law, or provide a link that proves your assertions, or maybe you could just STFU.

He is a career politician. You expect him to take a stand?

The fact remains that there has been no evidence that the impropriety was part of any plot against conservatives. And there is certainly no evidence connecting the Obama administration to the matter.

Minor issue of process at the IRS. No scandal.

Sorry nutters.

Uh, the investigation has just started. All they've done is an audit. They hadn't even begun an investigation when the story broke.

However, there is plenty of probable cause for suspicion of the Obama Administration because they keep stonewalling and changing their story. Congress also has the actual documents that were sent to Tea Party and other groups asking questions that were supposedly not authorized by higher ups yet had their names on them.

Obama has claimed he fired the guilty parties yet he has not fired anyone yet. White House lawyers and his own chief of staff knew about the audit for months yet Obama claims he "just found out about it" which is the answer all of them seem to give when asked by congress. Nobody knows anything and if you ask them that's what they'll tell you. This is why you can falsely claim there is no evidence. Nobody is talking......in the White House that is. The low-level folks are talking bigtime under oath. They say that all of the unfair focus on rightwingers came directly from Washington. Many of the low level folks Obama threw under the bus were offended by the harassment that they were ordered to give specific groups and they have been talking......which I'm sure you will ignore. The woman in charge took the 5th and was put on administrative leave with pay. She knows that any truthful answers would end up incriminating here, so she was ordered to take the 5th and then the administration thinks they can protect her by putting her on leave. Maybe they can claim executive privilege but that would mean there was White House involvement.

I saw a hearing the other day on CSPAN where congress was questioning some of the groups that were subjected to harassment. One of them was a lawyer and he said that the IRS broke several laws not to mention abused hundreds of groups' civil rights as guaranteed under the constitution. This is the kind of thing that the Administration has been doing in the SEC, EPA, and just about every single licensing entity in the federal government has been using these nearly identical harassment technics, so, it's clear it is being directed from the White House. No refinery or energy producer has been granted a license to build since Obama took office. I don't think the Tree-hugger in Chief is just making an honest mistake and it is highly unlikely that it's just low-level renegades.
