Let me summarize it for all those who didn't watch it. First:
THE OBVIOUS PROBLEMS:
- Despite the fact that there are 20 people running, only ten were given the stage. They pick these ten by who ranks highest in polls, yet the polls are driven by the exposure candidates get in debates to hear their ideas, thereby effectively driving certain people further down in the polls and out of the race. This is fundamentally corrupt, biased and flawed giving people with more financial backing the advantage despite the fact that financial backing comes with the price of speaking for your backers rather than the broader public interest.
- Putting the better known or backed people center stage rather than lining them up alphabetically or by random. Putting Biden, Sanders and Warren at center and lesser known people at the edge again creates a psychological bias. At least try to pretend you are being impartial rather than pushing certain people.
- The main people at center (Biden, Sanders and Warren) got half the questions and airtime while the other 7 got the other half. Can you be any more obvious?
- No embarrassing personal questions. Unlike Trump, who in 2016 was asked (by Fox!) about everything from his small hands, little penis, orange hair, fat stomach, bleeding, and attitudes towards women, there was not a single question asking of Biden about his history of losing, his gaffes, his age, or his propensity to fondle little girls, not one question of Bernie honeymooning in the USSR or being a socialist, nor one question about Warren claiming credits for being Native American just because her great, great, great, great, great, great, great grand-uncle was part Cherokee or something. That's too much a waste of valuable time. They'll save all such questions again for Trump in the Primaries.
THE CANDIDATES. What was their CORE message?
- CASTRO: His basic message was that the future of America is for the young, and new things and ideas. Old is bad, which BTW, includes many Trump supporters.
- KLOBUCHAR: Trump is bad. Bash Trump, call Trump any good soundbite words that gets you notice and applause.
- BETO: Trump is bad. Bash Trump, call him more names, and BTW, also take all your guns because he just knows you don't need or deserve to own them.
- BOOKER: He's black so like all black people, his message was about racism and unity, while subsequently dividing people by race. I'm German, so I guess I should be for sauerkraut and Mercedes automobiles.
- YANG: Innovative ideas and people oriented. Said too much in this country is all driven by money and profits. He stepped out of the typical mold so was generally scorned by other candidates for daring to be a free thinker.
- BUTTGIEG: Unity, vision, blah, blah, blah, not much there.
- HARRIS: Bash Trump hard with heavy name calling and rhetoric to be sure to get claps and media attention. Little else. Oh and BTW, at some point, Harris even unnecessarily bashed Fox News, another news network, and told Trump watching to go back to watching Fox, a cheap shot which is unprecedented in a debate. Nor was it condemned by ABC News or any moderator.
- SANDERS: Trump is obviously a dangerous man, the successful are the cause of all evil and higher wages for the unskilled and free healthcare for all.
- WARREN: Fighting for the underclass.
- BIDEN: Going to invest in and do everything. Skies the limit. Just elect him and he'll move mountains. Just as soon as we get rid of Trump.
Of course, NONE OF THAT WILL ACTUALLY HAPPEN, but if I had to pick one, Yang sounded like the least offensive and actually half way intelligent with thinking outside the box, which of course means, he stands no chance, because the one thing we know is that the Elite definitely will not stand for any REAL fundamental change!
It is working just fine for them as it is.
Oh and BTW, I came across a random review of the debate on Bing and I found it interesting that everything they checked claimed by the Dems turned out FALSE. For instance:
