In neighborhoods that have a large Black population, Mc Donalds sells more when they add a lot of salt to the fries and meat..

Doesn't sell in White majority Neighborhoods with a lot of salt.. it does better in white neighborhoods with little or no salt.

Likewise, you can tell a lot about who lives in the area, by ordering some fries at the local Mc Donalds.
If it tastes like a Pillar of salt... its a Black neighborhood.

In white neighborhoods, You'll find a lot more contemporary and European designer clothing...
Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Fila and Adidas, and Reebok, and Ralph Lauren, and Polo and Levis, and Wrangler.

In Black neighborhoods you'll find more Nikes, and Jordans, and Fubu... more clothing that unfortunately represents prison life or Government employment.
And the kinds of things that you'll find in a Foreman Mills.

Also...

In areas with lesser competition and lower diversity levels where people are poorer, you'll find stores like Walmart, and a lot more fast food places, and more places like Quiznos and Subway.

In areas with more competition and higher diversity levels, you'll find less Walmart.... more K Mart, more Sears, more JC Penney, more Boscov's, more Dillards, more New York & Company, more BestBuy, more PetsMart, more Petco, more Barnes and Noble.

Less fast food, more formal restaurants with larger and more diverse menus...

More full grocery stores like Pathmark, more Acme, more Shoprite, more Kroger.

You'll also find more small businesses, because the people there have the money.

That's how important Demographics is to Marketing.
