Dems give White House tight deadline to fix Obamacare

They've given The Obama Administration until Friday of this week to repair Obamacare, or else they will consider breaking ranks and backing a GOP proposal to delay the mandate.

Meanwhile Harry Reid insisted that the Republicans were still stuck in the past, "Stop carping about this. Get over it. It’s the law. It’s the legacy of Barack Obama and always will be. Let’s get over this and stop the mischievous, misfortunate speeches out here every day about how bad it is." He said. It appears this law is now entering its final hour of life.

And it is just the beginning of the end for the Obama administration... :eusa_boohoo:

It seems that way. It was inevitable that something like this was going to happen. Republicans warned them but they wouldn't listen. And now they've walked right into the fiery furnace of reality.
And remember the "guilt by association" crap concerning the Bush admin? Well, welcome to Payback City Demoturds. Now it's your turn to suffer defeat after humiliating defeat! I can't wait to see Liberals' heads blow up when the GOP has the trifecta come 2016. And Her Royal Thighness won't see the Oval Orifice at all.

I don't see how it is possible to get veto proof majorities in both houses of congress. More than 1/3 of the house is made up of Democrats who have safe seats as long as they stay to the left of Obama. On the otherhand why in hell would the GOP give up this wetdream of a campaign issue without major concessions?

well, now it seems like it will be a stupid move. But the sire have an upper hand in bargaining now

I don't think Republicans are going to bail Obamacare out. The individual mandate must go on, along with the employer mandate.

In politics, when your opponent is hanging himself, don't take away the rope. Fuck those 12 **** senators that all voted FOR obamacare. We need to let these assholes know that their votes have consequences. No cover for Obamacare Democrats! No bail out for Obamacare.!

Let them reap what they've sown.....let them lose their jobs.

One of them is our very own Mark Begich. Let him be hoist on his own petard.

Democratic senators facing voters next year are willing to give the White House time to resolve the glaring problems with Obamacare.

At the pleading of senior White House officials, Senate Democrats are holding off on demands to delay major aspects of the health care law until the Obama administration has the opportunity to fix the website problems that are thwarting enrollment in the program.

Democratic senators facing reelection have a green light to bash the White House and call for certain legislative fixes. But they’ve been urged by senior administration officials not to insist on delaying the controversial law’s core: The mandate for individuals to purchase insurance coverage or face penalties.

Their requests are being heeded — for now.

Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.), who attended a tense two-hour meeting with President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden on Wednesday over the issue, stressed that senators should give the administration just “a little bit” of breathing room.

It cannot end too soon, IMHO.

Needs fixing...

I hope it is up and working soon for all that need it.

Lol ! Feinstein jumps ship !!

California Democrat Signs Onto A Bill That Would Allow People To Keep Their Health Insurance Plans

Dianne Feinstein

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) has decided to co-sponsor legislation from Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) that would require insurance companies to continue offering their existing health care plans, becoming the most high-profile non-red state Democrat to buck party lines on the Affordable Care Act.

Feinstein said in a statement Tuesday that she has received nearly 31,000 calls, emails, and letters from Californians detailing insurance-policy cancellations and premium spikes that have come with the implementation of Obamacare.

She thinks Landrieu's bill is a way to fix that.

"This bill provides a simple fix to a complex problem," Feinstein said in the statement.

"The Affordable Care Act is a good law, but it is not perfect. I believe the Landrieu bill is a commonsense fix that will protect individuals in the private insurance market from being forced to change their insurance plan. I hope Congress moves quickly to enact it."

Among other things, the "Keeping the Affordable Care Act Promise Act" would "grandfather" in all health insurance plans that existed as of Dec. 31, 2013, not March 23, 2010, meaning that insurers could continue to offer a number of plans that they have been forced to cancel under the Affordable Care Act.

C ustomers in the individual insurance market are finding they cannot keep their current policies if they have changed since the Affordable Care Act was passed in 2010 and don't meet certain minimum requirements of the law. Insurers are even canceling some plans that they are legally entitled to continue offering because the law changes the economics of doing so.

In her statement, Feinstein included the story of a phone call from a Rancho Mirage, Calif., man, who now receives just about the same coverage for $400 more a month.

Feinstein's public support for the bill serves as another sign that Democrats are becoming angsty over the Affordable Care Act's disastrous implementation, which has included that now-infamous broken promise and a dysfunctional website. Last week, President Barack Obama met with every Senate Democrat up for re-election to hear their concerns.

Before Feinstein, Landrieu's bill had three other red-state Democrats as co-sponsors — Sens. Kay Hagan (D-N.C.), Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), and Mark Pryor (D-Ark.).

Gee, remember the good old days of BarryCare? You know like Dim Rep Nancy Pelosi laughing it up while explaining the bill had to be passed before anyone can find out what's in it. Too funny, huh? I bet Dim folks pissed as hell they've lost their plans or doctors or both are still bustin' a gut over that one.

Now the rats who didn't know what they voted for need some cover so it's time to turn on the lying president in an attempt to save their worthless asses.

I got the beer, somebody pop the corn and pull up a chair. Some of the best free entertainment around is just beginning.

Yawn ... Democrats are talking about Hillary for president, not changing the ACA. You all can continue pushing this. If ACA changes at all, it won't be that much.

Cognition failure on display.

HaHa. So you think Fienstein and Landrieu are poised to bring Obamacare down?

Also, fix it by sometime in 2014 isn't exactly a tight leash. Cognition failure indeed but it's all yours.

The only way to fix ObamaCare is to get rid of it.

The problem is not the website...it's the distorted economics and perverse incentives that are turning this thing into a giant flaming bleeding hemmorhoid.

Keep thinking that if it gives you comfort. 2014 is going to be a nightmare for the Dems facing reelection if millions of people are without insurance due to ObamaCare or paying much more for worse coverage.

Hopenchange!

SSDD from the nutters. Did even one of you actually read the OP article?

It needs fixing, not dumping but don't look to the Rs to do anything that could actually help US citizens.

Cheney said once they've lost their policies, changing the law back isn't a viable option because of the complexity of the system.

Democrats will look at it but it isn't going back to the old system like you are suggesting. I'm just sayin.

Not happening...

Getting rid of it won't fix it.

The system is already broken. People would go months without insurance if they waited for their old policies to make it through the state certification process. Jobs lost aren't going to be easy to restore. Employers and insurers and citizens have moved on, trying to find a way to survive the unfriendly market.

This eff-up is a money pit. No fix in sight.

Republicans are walking into a trap and they don’t even realize it.

They are about to consider, in the House of Representatives, legislation by Congressman Upton that would allow people to keep their insurance plans.

There’s a problem though. It is widely acknowledged that Congressman Upton’s legislation is more messaging than substance. His legislation does not have anything in it that can force insurance companies, in the topsy-turvy world of Obamacare, to keep insurance plans going.

But there is a plan than does. Senator Mary Landrieu has written legislation in the United States Senate that the Democrats love. It mandates insurance companies have to keep people on their present insurance. The GOP is supposedly against mandates and against government forcing private businesses and individuals into contracts they don’t want.

Here’s what is going to happen.

The House, with the help of a good number of Democrats, will pass the Upton plan and send it to the Senate. Harry Reid will substitute the Landrieu plan and send it back to the House. The House will be forced to either vote for the Landrieu plan or be characterized as siding with insurance companies against people.

In one fell swoop, the Democrats will have the GOP on record saving Mary Landrieu’s re-election in Louisiana by casting her as the one who saved Americans’ health care plans, and also getting on record as really being in favor of fixing Obamacare with the use of mandates.
