A Department of Homeland Security program intended to give "trusted traveler" status to low-risk airline passengers soon will be extended to Saudi travelers, opening the program to criticism for accommodating the country that produced 15 of the 19 hijackers behind the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Sources voiced concern about the decision to the Investigative Project on Terrorism, which issued a report Wednesday on the under-the-radar announcement -- which was first made by Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano after meeting in January with her Saudi counterpart. According to the IPT, this would be the first time the Saudi government has been given such a direct role in fast-tracking people for entry into the United States.

Well...if we're gonna deny trusted traveler to anybody of the same nationality as any terrorist, I guess they might as we'll end the program. Heck, even American's wouldn't be allowed into it because of Timothy McVeigh, Terry Nichols and Jose Padilla, among others.

I always thought that 'trusted traveler status' was on a case by case basis and not based upon nationality.

That is how it should be. Some people are well-known and it's reasonable to give them a free pass. Individuals can earn trust, but not the entire population of any country.

Handing a blanket pass to a country will get the terrorists instantly scheming to take advantage of it. This is an incredibly stupid move. They are allowing the group with the people who are most likely to commit acts of terror against the U.S. to board planes without question and can't see how this could go horribly wrong.

Giving citizens from a terrorist-supporting nation a free pass is okay, but we must aggressively frisk the double amputee military veteran!

Tansportation Security Administration inspectors forced a wounded Marine who lost both of his legs in an IED blast and who was in a wheelchair to remove his prosthetic legs at one point, and at another point to stand painfully on his legs while his wheelchair was examined, according to a complaint a congressman has registered with the TSA.

Rep. Duncan Hunter said in his letter Monday that the Marine, who is still on active duty and showed TSA agents his military identification, was still forced to undergo that scrutiny.

“A TSA office asked the Marine to stand and walk to an alternate area, despite the fact that he physically could not stand or walk on his own. With numerous TSA officers sitting and unwilling to assist, an officer then made him remove his legs, then put them back on, only to advance to a secondary screening location where he was asked again to stand, with extraordinary difficult, while his wheelchair was examined for explosives,” Mr. Hunter said.

That just makes me sick. Okay, I get that they need to do random checks, but they must take the person's disability into account. Making the Marine stand and try to walk was nothing short of physical abuse. I think it's because Homeland Security placed veterans higher on the list of potential threats and I doubt that young Muslim men are even on the list anymore.

Meanwhile, those wearing burkas and who could be hiding anything under their robes will get waved through. Ain't political correctness grand?

TSA has to go. All it does is harass people into believing they are more safe. The truth is that nothing they have done would have prevented 9/11. What's preventing another 9/11 is that the passengers know better, they won't let it happen again.

When they overdo it with certain people, like little old ladies and wounded Marines, then turn around and let an entire country (a major terrorist producer) off the hook, what the hell is the point? If they are going to practically invite Muslim terrorists to come on over and do their thing, we may as well forget any security.

And along with everything else Moslems don't particuliar Cotten to big sis's sexual orientation

Damn straight, Clem.

Why waste the money when all we get is a bunch of retards who couldn't get into one of the cool agencies like FBI or DEA because of their criminal backgrounds.
