Dicks and Walmart getting sued HAHA

Republicans should just change their name to the Socialist Party of America now that they want to tell private businesses what to do.
It is interesting to watch morons selectively supporting laws. Must bake faggot cake!!!! Must not sell rifles to 18 year olds!!!! Make up your minds and be consistent about it. The subversive elements have their knickers twisted just about everything. Lolol
it's what happens on the slopes, no matter how slippery.

Walmart is in violation of Oregon State Law. This is a good thing. Win or lose, the challenge is good. The restriction to drive a car is 16 in your state, drinking, 21? What if suddenly some private business in the abstract decides to restrict your driving to 20 years old and your drinking to 30? You see what is at issue here.

Wouldn't Hertz, and Avis, and Alamo, and all the other car rental places also be in violation, since they don't rent to people under 25 years old.

Edited: At least not without a young driver surcharge, and they absolutely don't let anyone rent under 21 years old.

As far as I know every rental car agency restricts those under 25

I found that this has changed. Some will rent to drivers 21 - 24 by charging them extra. They still prohibit renters under 21 years old.

Even in Oregon.

Car Rental Under 25 - Age Requirements - Enterprise Rent-A-Car

The minimum age to rent a vehicle is 21 years of age.
  • A 'Young Renter Fee' may be applied to your rental, if you are between the ages of 21 and 24.
    • The average cost is approximately $20.00 per day
Renters 21 through 24 years of age may only rent Economy through Fullsize cars

Car Rental Under 25 - Age Requirements - Enterprise Rent-A-Car

The minimum age to rent a vehicle is 21 years of age

Exception: United States Government Employees - On Orders

  • A United States Government Employee can rent at 18 years of age, but must show the rental location his or her official orders.
Exception: Michigan

  • In Michigan, the minimum age to rent is 18 years of age as mandated by the state
  • Any driver 18-20 years of age will be charged an additional 'Young Renter Fee' of $26.00 per day
  • Any driver 21-24 years of age will be charged an additional 'Young Renter Fee' of $13.00 per day
Exception: New York State

  • In New York State, the minimum age to rent is 18 years of age as mandated by the state
  • Any driver 18-20 years of age will be charged an additional 'Young Renter Fee' of $57.00 per day
  • Any driver 21-24 years of age will be charged an additional 'Young Renter Fee' of $20.00 per day

Oregon isn't on the list.

A very misguided and cowardly PR Stunt. Much of our Military is made up of men & women under 21. Shame on both Corporations for trying to cash in on the Florida tragedy. I already don't shop at either store. And i'll definitely keep it that way.

But there is no constitutionally protected right to drive, or own a car. Perhaps that the flaw that allows them to discriminate?

Yes, in this case, it is an insurance thing underwriting their borrowed use of the car.

Contracted, not point of sale.

PA law shouldn't apply in this narrow case.

What does 'contracted. not point of sale' have to do with anything?

it has to do with the original concept of a Public Accomodation.

The whole concept of PA was a bullshit way to get around the Constitution and force private entities to do what they are told by the Govt.

Actually the 'whole concept' of PA laws usually revolves around the rights of citizens and they have been found to be constitutional.

But citizens also have the right to free exercise.

Why does one person's right to have a specific cake for their wedding override the cake provider's right to free exercise?

you don't get to refuse accommodation to the public when you run a business.

missing the days of jim crow, dearie?

If it were an absolute constitutional right, it would begin at birth. 6 year olds would be allowed to buy firearms. But Heller v DC upheld that it's not an unlimited right, but instead one governed by reasonable laws, rules and regulations.

Next you'll force places offering "senior citizen" discounts, to give those to people of all ages.

A contracted service such as a wedding cake isn't a Public Accomodation.

Again i ask, why does this couples right to that specfic wedding cake override the baker's right to free exercise?

Why can't any of you progressive twats answer that question?

Actually the Oregon age discrimination statue specifically allows for Senior Discounts.

Shameful PR Stunt. Everyone's trying to cash in on the dead children in Florida. I'll never shop at Walmart or Dicks again.

yeah, today its gays, tomorrow blacks... the next day Hispanics.... anyone the hate filled white supremacist trumploons don't like.

no one is beating them over the head. they can stop working in a field that offends them.

oops

So the choice is a person's morality or be forced to do something they don't want to to make a living?

Kobayasi Maru.

I'm not going to try to educate your ignorant self on this subject anymore.

so just stop whining you homophobic loon

Yes, in this case, it is an insurance thing underwriting their borrowed use of the car.

Wouldn't the Dicks and Walmart age restrictions be similar. Their lawyers saying they might face legal responsibility for their actions if selling to young, but legal aged adults,

After all you can't run for congress unless you're 25, the senate unless you're 30 and the presidency unless you're 35.
