Do Americans go broke over medical bills?

If you can't pay your medical bills then you likely aren't paying your rent, car payment, etc. If you lose your job because you can't work, or simply can't work due to illness, then none of your bills get paid and all of them lead to bankruptcy, not just the medical bills. Besides, Obamacare doesn't do anything about that issue anyway.
A $50,000. hospital bill can be devastating to an average family who was denied insurance for a pre-existing condition, let alone a several hundred thousand dollar bill.

A better idea is to force me to pay your bill?

Agree but I don't think Ronnie Ray-gun's Socialist EMTALA will be ending any time soon.

What's the pub's plan?

that's what leeches believe...They live in our Society so we should work to take care of them too and deprive our families, so what they don't care

The leeches are the ones that don't want ACA.

Explain.
I'm far from a leech and I can assure you I dont want obamacare.
From what I've read most who have signed up are low income people who qualify for subsidies and medicaid.
Dont see this working with all those "pillars of the community" signing up.

And there are services to take care of issues like that. But if you haven't worked and don't pay rent or mortgage there really isn't much out there. You can put off paying hospital bills.

That's always the rw answer - just don't pay your bills.

Is there a point?

Your argument seems to be that obamacare is not a cure?

is it just me or does every other rw'er on this board claim to be in the individual insurance market like Joe the Plumber (not really a plumber) :eusa_think:

BTW, I don't entirely blame rw's for wanting free health care paid for by the Dems/liberals. They've gotten used to being able to just walk away from their health care bills and it will take time to get them to carry their fair share.

That I am. Always have been, and have never been without it. Even us pub dupes don't all have the luxury of comfortable portfolios or employer provided insurance.

Yep and every single one of the pays lots more than anyone else. Why have my costs gone down? Why have I gotten two premium refunds, cheaper scrips and now, not paying co-pays for some things?

Like I've said before - Its obvious that Prez Barry knows who voted for him and their insurance costs reflect that knowledge. ;)

If we employ Ockham's razor, then the answer is that you're a liar.

This is was the ACA has for me...increased premium, outrageous deductible and copays:

Monthly premium $622/mo
2 enrollees

Deductible $12,700/yr Family total

$4,500/yr Per individual

Out-of-pocket Maximum $12,700/yr Family

$6,350/yr Per individual

Copayments/Coinsurance: Primary Doctor: 30% Coinsurance after deductible
Specialist Doctor: 30% Coinsurance after deductible
Generic Prescription: 30% Coinsurance after deductible
ER Visit: 30% Coinsurance after deductible

I doubt you got a better than I, so you are a liar.

Yes, we're the only country where people go bankrupt because of medical bills.

Lies make Baby Jesus cry.

Consider Canada. Our neighbor to the north features a government-run, single-payer healthcare system where private insurance is outlawed for
procedures covered under the law. So you'd think that Canada would have a lower rate of bankruptcy than the United States, what with one big potential
cause of bankruptcy -- the cost of health care -- absorbed by the government.

But according to researchers at the Fraser Institute, a nonpartisan Canadian think tank, bankruptcy rates are statistically the same on both sides of the
49th parallel. In both the United States and Canada, less than one-third of 1 percent of families file for bankruptcy each year.

Further, even with a socialized healthcare system, some Canadians go bankrupt because of medical expenses. Approximately 15 percent of bankrupt
Canadian seniors -- those 55 and older -- cited medical reasons, including uninsured expenses, as the main culprit for their insolvency.

This sure blows a hole in that theory...

And no one on the left comments to this post...

So you're either employed and your cheap employer doesn't want to provide insurance, or you're self employed and don't want to share the net cost after you get your subsidies.

Yeah....all those reports of 40% increases and millions losing their healthcare are allllll lies.

Look Duddly...most people dont qualify for subsidies like you do. So it only stands to reason their premiums and deductible would go up. We cant all suck on the gov tit, someone has to pay for all this shit.

Nope. Retired two years ago at 46. Try again.

Our hospitals are going broke over unpaid medical bills

Thank your hero, Ronnie Ray-Gun for that.

Where did he think the money to treat every right winger and every illegal was gonna come from?

Never walked on a bill of any kind in my entire life. I do know a lib who just walked on a twenty five thousand dollar hospital bill though. He acted like he was owed it.
Typical loser lib.....
