Chris Wilson recently wrote a guest post for us on how the RNC needs to do more to showcase its governors and their successes. Here’s one of the things they should be talking about.

According to today’s release by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 31 of the 50 states have experienced significant job growth over the last 12 months.

Florida is only #15 but I'll bet the next time the numbers are checked we will be in the top 1`0 and possibly even the top 5. Rick Scott (R) has done a remarkable job.

You can't just take random statistics like that and say that it proves anything. As a primary example, North Dakota is often trotted out as some job-producing juggernaut--but that's only in terms of "percentage gain" in employed persons IN THAT STATE. When you consider, however, that North Dakota is nearly the least populated state in the union, it doesn't take much real growth in actual numbers to translate to a relatively high percentage. IN FACT, if you look at those Republican states in the top 10, they are very near to North Dakota in terms of scarce population density (except Texas).

(To put this another way--a 20% gain in employment in North Dakota would not even be as much as a 1% gain in California. Nobody lives in North Dakota.)

ALSO, it is worth noting that those Republican states get much more federal aid per capita than more heavily-populated Democratic states. Perhaps, then, this is an argument for federal spending?

The fastest growing humans are all under 18 years of age, and the most rapidly improving basketball players tend to be in high school. What's your point?

Guess what? 9 out of the top 10 states by per capita income voted for Obama! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_by_income#States_ranked_by_per_capita_income You can click on the median income sort and you'll find 9 out of 10 of the top 10 states by median income also voted Obama. But Republicans win the award for 'most improved' ! Well done!
