All these people voted. Two wards tied. How do they decide who wins? A coin toss. That means, you lose if your neighbor didn't vote.

ELECTION 2013: Two races end in tie in Abington Township

A tie was determined in Ward 3 and 4 in the race for Abington Township commissioner after the results were tallied during the election Nov. 5, according to the unofficial results on the Montgomery County website.

She said she hopes it does not come down to a coin toss in her race.

“I don’t think our leaders ought to be picked by the toss of a coin. It should be by the vote of the people,” said voter Bob Allison.

The candidates themselves are surprised it could come down to a coin or dice.

“Your whole race, all the stuff you’ve been working for is a coin toss…I can’t believe it,” said.

In the little town I mostly grew up in, they had a mayorial contest, nobody volunteered to run. Two write in candidates got the same number of votes. They agreed to meet in the middle of Main Street, at high noon, do a coin toss, and the one that lost was the mayor.
