Backdoor Gun Control: Justice Department Applies Pressure so Banks Refuse Service to Gun Stores

Posted on May 3, 2014 by Tim Brown

The current criminal Attorney General, who has been found to be in contempt of Congress after failing to provide subpoenaed documents in the Fast and Furious scandal, which his department was involved in trafficking thousands of guns across the US/Mexico border that resulted in the deaths of hundreds of Mexicans and at least two federal agents, has now been caught in yet another scandal. For the past several months, the DOJ has been putting pressure on banks, in a program referred to as Operation ChokePoint, to not provide services that the Justice Department is targeting politically. Among those businesses are gun stores.

The DOJ has been targeting several businesses besides gun stores. They include pornography distributors and actresses, sellers of drug paraphernalia and dating services.

According to a 2011 Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation bulletin, which lists “merchant categories that have been associated with high-risk activity” involving “disreputable merchants,” it appears that the DOJ is attempting to malign legal gun stores, as well as other businesses. The bulletin, in essence, seeks to put these businesses in the category of “Ponzi schemes,” “get rich products” and “high risk” activities.

“Although many clients of payment processors are reputable merchants, an increasing number are not and should be considered ‘high risk,’” the bulletin reads. “These disreputable merchants use payment processors to charge consumers for questionable or fraudulent goods and services.”

In 2012, the Daily Caller reported that Bank of America told McMillan Fiberglass Stocks, McMillan Firearms Manufacturing and McMillan Group International that they would no longer be doing business with them after being their banker for 12 years.

Is this a story about the DOJ only dealing with racism?

It's shameful and disgusting. I know of gun dealers who had their credit cards cancelled because the company changed policy on gun businesses.
These are legitimate law abiding businesses, licensed by the government. It is not part of Justice's job to force out businesses they happen not to like.
Fuck Holder. He needs to be in prison.

I guess this means that Larry Flynt will soon be switching his allegiance over to the GOP.

This place is full of first amendment preaching and we live in a free country where people and companies can do as they choose when a sheriff N-bombs Obama or a union tries to organise industrial action for worker rights but the moment a company chooses to adjust it's policy and removes credit from someone who makes his living from selling people with weapons designed to kill and maim it's all "boo hoo wah".

Seeing as how it's unconstitutional it becomes more than just whining.

How about we stop all if the funds going to abortion clinics in America. Anyone who kills babies needs to suffer..

How bout that???

I don't see the conection however I'm all for the stopping of funding for the killing of babies. I'm not too bothered about the foetuses that are terminated in abortion clinics but babies I think should not be killed. Thankfully the law agrees with me on these points.

I love how taking away credit from a dealer of death is unconstitutional. He has the right to sell guns but he does not have the right to a fucking Visa card. Amazing how the constitution is brought up as a silver bullet whenever the guns and ammo lobby start to blub.

It's for reasons along these lines, as well as others, that I have not made a firearms-related transaction in anything other than CASH in about 6 years. Buy or Sell; Firearms, Ammunition, Accessories; Dealer or Private Sale; doesn't matter. CASH ONLY. No checks. No credit or debit cards. No PayPal accounts. CASH ONLY. Much less likely to be traceable that way.

Where were all you constitutional scholars when the discussion was about gay cupcakes?

Or, is that "different".

This has nothing at all to do with the Constitution. (As usual, I offer the answer to that question in my signature.)

Hypocrites.

It's brought up because it's settled law.

Love the tap-dance.

Very amusing....

Where your signature is concerned, memorize the entire constitution, not just the part you want to obey...and don't ignore the rest.

"I am just a poor boy
Though my story's seldom told
I have squandered my resistance
For a pocket full of mumbles such are promises
All lies and jests
Still a man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest"

The company didnt choose the policy, numbnuts. The Administration is leaning on them to make the changes.
Geez, are people really this stupid? Don't answer that, I already know.
