Ever Wonder How Many Americans Own Guns by State? Well, Merry Christmas! Here it is

Have you guys ever heard of missiles, tanks, chemical weapons....? Unless you've got toys like that in the garage, you should try to get over your delusions of grandeur.

You're not living in Iran, dingbat. The guvmint's not going to turn missiles, tanks and chemical weapons on us, dingbat.
Oh, we are talking about just OUR government. ok. As long as Trump doesn't get elected, I tend to agree with you.
That's how it works in this country, obama or Trump, if chosen they are your president.

What a stupid country we have become when arguments are given over how high you stand in gun ownership. Can you say stupid primitive uncivilized or idiot nation. In America leave your radio on, and if you hear there is a mass shooting feel safe for killing is over for that day. Tomorrow is another day to be afraid. Too ridiculous.

'Idiot America: How Stupidity Became a Virtue in the Land of the Free' by Charles P. Pierce
Liberals are idiots feeding off of idiots and trying hard to ram their idiocy down our throats. Guns make it impossible so they snivel like hungry babies.

Hey, I don't disrespect our elected officials. I can be a good loser.

That is nearly 92 million armed American citizens, and ten states with numbers of armed citizens larger than the largest Army in the world.

In summary, no government on this planet can disarm the American population. Period.

And what good does it do them if three guys shoot the personnel on their doorstep?

The population of the state of Texas is 26,956,958, and gun ownership is at 35%, giving us over 9 million gun owners in Texas. That is the largest armed force in the planet. Here's where you're most likely to own a gun

Here is a chart with estimates of all gun owners in each state, using the method above I used for Texas, taking population and multiplying by the percentage of people surveyed that own guns there.

Interesting. 92 million guns in owners hands. And 300 million in the wind. Go 'Murica.

Your not considering that most who own guns own more than one.
Yes, it is a survey of those who say that they own a gun. So households have more than one gun owner, sure, but the comparison is with population by individual, so the comparison is consistent.

If we are talking about only those adults between the age of 16 and 55, the percentages would be higher as a portion of that subset of the population, but I dont have census data for that age range and dont need it since the survey is of the general population from which I got the final estimates.

That help?

In summary, no government on this planet can disarm the American population. Period.

Gee, that's comforting. Do you know that some Americans are wife / child beaters, some are child molesters and rapists, some are paranoid schizophrenic, some suffer from depression, delusions and an internal rage. Some are hotheads, some express their rage on highways and roadways and even some on pedestrians walking on a sidewalk, some are career criminals, some are robbers, some carjackers, some drunks and drug addicts.

Some Americans dream of being a superhero - when they have their gun in hand they believe they are a superhero (the George Zimmerman Syndrome); some Americans are racists, homophobic, bigoted, members of gangs and filled with hate for those who are different; some so scared a knock on their door releases the chemicals which create fight or flee, and too many believe God speaks to them (and we don't know what God is telling them).

How many of these ^^^ are gun owners?

Have you heard of Iraq and Afghanistan...where we are have now left because even with our Drones, SEALS, Green Berets, Airborne, missles, tanks, and sattelites vs. primitives with rifles and improvised explosives...we got tired of fighting them and our leaders pulled our troops out...

Now consider 90 million Americans, with many having prior military experience, better arms, more ammo, better communications, better understanding of the home territory and a desire to protect their families...and tell me that you post isn't dumb.

More proof America is one dumb nation. Texas has so many gun deaths people are addressed Merry Christmas early in May as by December they may just be another gun statistic. A New Year wish is that they hope to make it through the year. Nations away from gun worship and pee their pants Americans often ask why so many are gunned down in America. No one has yet to figure out why. Some wonder if 72 virgins await them, but that is part of another religious ideological nonsense. With Armageddon right around the corner, Alfred E. Neuman's immortal phrase has become the new slogan, far surpassing 'the land of the free and the home of the brave.' Others think 'brave' should be replaced with armed, and yet other think 'afraid' may fit better?

The real reason the NRA is so powerful

What a stupid country we have become when arguments are given over how high you stand in gun ownership. Can you say stupid primitive uncivilized or idiot nation. In America leave your radio on, and if you hear there is a mass shooting feel safe for killing is over for that day. Tomorrow is another day to be afraid. Too ridiculous.

You do realize that while more Americans now own guns....our gun murder rate is going down...and while Europe and Australia have completely banned guns...their crime rates are now starting to go up.....and their criminals and terrorists easily get fully automatic rifles, grenades and explosives...right...?

And Britain...is now arming more and more police with guns...because of increasing violent crime and gun violence...after their confiscation..right?

The reason we had 8,124 gun murders here in the states is because we have generations of children having babies with no adults to teach civilized behavior..so murder means nothing to them. The 8,124 gun murders are majority committed by violent career criminals murdering other violent career criminals...you should actually do some research on this so your posts are actually intelligent.

Criminals in other countries simply do not choose to murder their victims as often as our criminals do....and that isn't because of gun control..to repeat...their criminals get guns as easy as ours do...they just don't commit murder as often.

That gives how many own guns, not how many guns they own. I heard that there are more guns than people in the US.

And those nations that you praise......gave 12 million innocent men, women and children, of all ages, to the Germans for mass murder....and were unable to stop it because after WW1 they listened to people like you and gave up their arms......

12 million people.......murdered for no other reason than a small minority of Germans didn't like them....

And the really funny thing...knowing that their own governments were complicit in the murder of 12 million men, women and children..........they gave up their guns again after WW2.....believing that they can always trust their governments to protect them and not to hurt them...

Who is really the stupid country.....?

Indeed, homeland security.
Not really. The number of homes with guns in them is a t a 40 year low.

America has more guns in fewer hands than ever before

That is a lie by an anti gun pollster.....here is the truth....as guns fly off the shelves in California..

Is gun ownership really down in America? | Fox News

Surely, gun control advocates such as GSS director Tom Smith view this decline as a good thing. In a 2003 book of mine, I quoted Smith as saying that the large drop in gun ownership would “make it easier for politicians to do the right thing on guns” and pass more restrictive regulations.

Other gun control advocates have mentioned to me that they hope that if people believe fewer people own guns, that may cause others to rethink their decision to own one themselves. It is part of the reason they dramatically exaggerate the risks of having guns in the home.

The Associated Press and Time ignored other polls by Gallup and ABC News/Washington Post.

These polls show that gun ownership rates have been flat over the same period. According to Gallup, household gun ownership has ranged from 51 percent in 1994 to 34 percent in 1999. In 2014, it was at 42 percent – comparable to the 43-45 percent figures during the 1970s.

A 2011 Gallup poll with the headline “Self-Reported Gun Ownership in U.S. Is Highest Since 1993” appears to have gotten no news coverage.

The ABC News/Washington Post poll shows an even more stable pattern, with household gun ownership between 44 and 46 percent in 1999. In 2013, the ownership rate was 43 percent.

There are other measures that suggest that we should be very careful of relying too heavily on polling to gauge the level of gun ownership. For example, the nationally number of concealed handgun permits has soared over the last decade: rising from about 2.7 million in 1999 to 4.6 million in 2007 to 11.1 million in 2014.

The National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) shows that the number of gun purchases has grown dramatically over time –doubling from 2006 to 2014.

The population of the state of Texas is 26,956,958, and gun ownership is at 35%, giving us over 9 million gun owners in Texas. That is the largest armed force in the planet. Here's where you're most likely to own a gun

By comparison, China has the largest standing army in the world and has only 2.3 million men. People's Liberation Army - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Here is a chart with estimates of all gun owners in each state, using the method above I used for Texas, taking population and multiplying by the percentage of people surveyed that own guns there.

That is nearly 92 million armed American citizens, and ten states with numbers of armed citizens larger than the largest Army in the world.

In summary, no government on this planet can disarm the American population.

Do you realize how dumb your post is....we have 90 million homes with guns...and the total gun murder rate for the entire country was just 8,124 gun murders in 2014...which is going down not up in number....and the majority of those are not normal people who buy a gun and the gun possesses their body and they go on a killing spree...

No...the majority of people who commit gun murder are vioelent, career criminals with long criminal records, who murder other criminals.....

And over 13 million people carry guns every day now for self defense...and our gun murder rate is going down, not up.....

So you are wrong.....your views are based on t.v. and movies, not real life......

To be honest, I don't even know how many guns I own. I've bought guns all my life. Some women shop for clothes. I shop for guns. Many have been passed down to my by my father, other relatives. I always carried, on occasion. For many years. The events of the last couple years here in the U.S. have prompted me to carry every day. In fact, I am so used to carrying - I feel naked without one. And that includes churches and other "gun free" zones. I am armed. And, I'm a reasonable and easy going guy. And there are millions just like me - and there are millions more - who are NOT so reasonable and easy going. So - rule of thumb - don't talk "global warming" bullshit in public right after a "work related incident involving a Muslim." We're fed up with that shit.
