The only difference between the two is the process of how charges are filed. Indictments go thru a grand jury first and then prosecution will charge if grand jury agrees that the person should be charged. The other is the prosecution charges without the need of a grand jury.
He has been charged in the Georgia election case and the other one concerns the Hush money case. He has about 34 charges in various case alone. Seriously most do not seem to grasp how much trouble Trump is in.
In my opinion this is really why he wants to run for president. He wants to pardon himself which can be when one is convicted or in the process of being convicted. IF before conviction then it must be allowed under the specific laws of that jurisdiction. Some are more forgiving and others are hard asses about it.

You can say that Trump has never been criminally convicted then you would be correct as far as I know. The only cases he lost were civil lawsuits in the past.
