Do you think they are going to use it on random people on the street or something? If the police are using this tech, its because someone has already been arrested, and much like a lie detector test, it wont be admissible in court. Its merely an investigative tool to let them know if they are on the right track.

They can use the equipment. But they cannot make any arrest. Polygraph machine can't be use to make decisions. Like audio recordings cannot be use as evidence. But a officer can make his own personal decision to whether to proceed with the investigation or not. But he cannot state that he used these devices to make his decision. A machine cannot read someone's face. Actors are great in making phony expressions.
