Florida sheriffs resolve to support right to bear arms - HISTORIC CITY NEWS

Florida Sheriffs Association
Proclamation 2013-1
Support of Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution

WHEREAS, the Florida Constitution in Article VIII, Section 1(d), created the Office of the Sheriff and invested the Sheriff with certain powers necessary to carry out his or her duties to serve and protect the public; and

WHEREAS, Sheriffs are charged with the public trust and are sworn to uphold the Constitution of the United States, which guarantees the right to bear arms; and

WHEREAS, the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution assures the right of the people to keep and bear arms; and

WHEREAS, Florida Sheriffs have continually supported the rights guaranteed under the Constitution of the United States, including the right to bear arms, and Florida Sheriffs affirm they will not assist, support, or condone any unconstitutional infringement of that right;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT PROCLAIMED, that on this 29th day of January 2012 at the Winter Conference in Destin, Florida, the Florida Sheriffs Association publicly acknowledges and reiterates its support for the rights provided by the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution.

10th Amendment in action.

Gee, a Sheriff's Association has reaffirmed they'll support the Constitution. Thanks guys. ...Wasn't that already in your job description?

If you have to ask that question, you must be another "low-information voter," which is just another way of saying that you're a useful idiot.

The US is a Democratic Republic. Find another subject for your soapbox.

The US is a representative republic you fool. Take a Civics class.

We are a democracy. As much as conservatives despise that fact, it is so.

Uh.. no, we are not.. even if we have democratic elections for SOME positions within government.. We have, as it has been explained to your ilk many times, a constitutional representative republic.. wherein the rule of law trumps popular whim

"representative republic"

You don't make yourself look smarter when you repeat what is a redundancy.

Uh huh... almost as stupid as those that say we have a democracy?? And yes, the Constitution does stipulate the way the representatives are chosen for this republic.. so would you rather have the full descriptor a republic where the rule of law within the constitution controls the way in which representatives are chosen and governed and the limits upon the government itself?? Nah.. I'll stick to the 3 word descriptor

No more impressive that the Utah Sheriff's proclamation to that effect.

Absolutely toothless.

I've been telling you fu**ing gun nut idiots for YEARS that when push comes to shove, the cops will NOT en mass come round up yer far-arms.

Sure, the gun nuts will show "proof" of rogue cops like some in New Orleans. There are 1,000,000 cops in America. Some are bad apples.

But a mass round up of yer far-arms just isn't happening...not by the cops anyway.

Maybe by the military you right wingers insist on spending 500 quadrillion dollars a month on, which basically funds the only organization that could truly take yer far-arms........although I suspect 99% of military folks wouldn't do it either. Although, cops say "no" and they might lose their jobs. Military men say "no" and they may end up in federal prison. Big difference.

But yer far-arms are safe.

These Sheriff's proclamations aren't stupid at all. Their the first "fuck off" sent to the folks who think cops will just blindly do whatever the politicians say. Deep down, most cops are disgusted by politicians, of both sides, and do the job despite it all.

If there were ever a gun round up to come gitch yer far-arms, the cops wont be the ones doing it. I doubt the military would either. And without those two, the Feds don't have the teeth to do it.

I don't see how the Fla. Sheriff's Association's statement in support of the 2nd Amendment nullifies federal law.

Just like the Atlanta or Nashville or (insert PD) PD when they decide Jaywalking isn't worth enforcing, and while its on the books, it rarely if ever gets enforced.

Idiot politicians can pass whatever law they want. Hell, they can ban tank-tops and green shorts. They can pass a federal law that bans pineapple on pizza.

But, if cops aren't willing to go out and enforce it..........well, that law isn't worth anything more than the ink and paper.

There are 3,000,000 military members. There are 1,000,000 cops in America.

If 99% of those groups refuse to come round up yer far-arms........then the law isn't gonna have teeth. Period.

Not much different really than the 50% of cops out there who, when they find someone has a tiny amount of weed, just ignores it. IT wont be long before the other 50% does too. Society changes. And cops are picked from amongst our society, so they reflect a lot of people's views.

Your guns are safe. They aren't declaring martial law. The cops are not gonna do it. The Federal agencies aren't big or brave enough. End of story.

You're wasting your time with these idiots. This country has never been a pure democracy - will NEVER be a pure democracy and SHOULD NEVER be a pure democracy. Again, it is nothing more than mob rule. The East and West coasts would decide everything for the country as a whole - the Midwest and the South would have no say whatsoever. Now, granted, that's what these pinheads would like - but it ain't gonna happen.

That's the genius of the founders. They knew how to do it. These were men light years ahead of their time.

Some light reading for you:

"Where did this democratic tradition truly begin? The ideas and practices that led to the development of the American democratic republic owe a debt to the ancient civilizations of Greece and Rome, the Protestant Reformation, and Gutenberg's printing press. But the Enlightenment of 17th-century Europe had the most immediate impact on the framers of the United States Constitution."

Did you take the class? Are things more clear now?

It's more specific, and it emphasizes the power of the voters to change the government as they see fit by using one man, one vote. The fact that it is not any better for the average dog now does not lessen the fact that it should be.

It says that? Can you show me where, because I missed it all those times I read it.

Come to think of it, so did all my teachers, classmates, and everyone in the universe who isn't you.
Notice he asked what the term meant to "me"? Did you miss that part?

Did you miss the part where I was laughing at you?

California Department of Justice agents sweep Fresno, Clovis for illegal guns

By Jim Guy

The sign in the window warned burglars that the homeowner owned a handgun and would use it in self-defense. The state agents knocking on the door were there to confiscate the weapon.

The agents are part of the California Department of Justice's Armed Prohibited Persons System (APPS), a program that takes firearms from people barred from owning them. The law says that group can include ex-felons and people deemed to be mentally unstable.

Often arriving in SUVs and dressed in black tactical uniforms, the teams regularly sweep through California cities with a list of names and addresses.

bucs90, have you ever been right even once, in your strident declarations?

Your 0-for-everything score still appears intact.

How do you interpret that above statement? How is that statement changing any of this?
