For the first time in 20 years, China has lost a world math championship to the United States

Is it a good news for the USA? Why is even China a proper rival for us. They never were clever as we did not.
We are not kin at math. It looks like a competition of the dumbest country, does it?

Try that again in English?

China puts a lot of emphasis on robotic education. They learn to be robots, they learn to do as they're told and not question those above them. Maths is perfect. You can't insult the CCP with maths.
History is one of the most hated subjects in China, because it's so boring. They don't want to learn debating skills and so on, they simply learn dates, robotic learning.

No, it means the Democrats have through the unions largely controlled the curriculum for the last half-century or so.

The results are clear.

Yes, that might be true, but you have to ask what the republicans have done about it? Why has this been allowed to happen?

Have you ever set foot inside a school in China? Have you ever asked even ONE Chinese student about this? Have you ever even met a Chinese student?

China lost this time b/c the dude who was supposed to hand deliver the questions to the Chinese 'wiz kids' three days before the competition left the briefcase in which the questions were on the fucking bullet train!
The dude has not be seen in public since and has not been to his shit-hole shit-hole where he used to live.
The Chinese won't let this happen again.

Why "shit-hole"?

I suppose this victory is just another mistake.
there was a math error of American judges on the score cards of this competition.
I hardly believe we are getting smarter.
May be they are just getting dumber.
This test as well as most of the international test comparisons are meaningless because they are comparing apples and oranges.

  • The curricula are different. A topic taught at a 4th grade level in one country may not be taught in another country till 6th grade.
  • The emphasis on math concepts versus computational skills are different.
  • In may countries, poorer students are never included in the test results because they don't take the tests.
  • Finally, tests are often not the same. Statistically methods are used to equate test scores which are at best questionable in regard to accuracy.

To compare student performance, the test, the curriculum, and the makeup of the student population must be same.
