This scenario almost played out , the San Bernardino shooters, had planned to attack commuters stopped in rush hour traffic. If they had gone that far, would you actually think it would have been better for drivers in those cars unarmed?
Im sure there is a percentage of people who are packing, but even so it would have been a slaughter. The thing is, Im afraid this is going to be something that will eventualy happen. These two had been in contact with ME terrorists and Im sure they have been trading ideas back and forth. Protecting our freeways and airports is pretty much impossible for police, we all need to keep our eyes open.
