When our country was founded & expanding west we needed the immigrants to help build the infrastructure, highway system eventually & build towns. We didn't mind getting the weary, downtrodden or uneducated as long as they were able bodied for all the manual labor.

That is no longer a need our nation has. Those same types of immigrants are now a drain on our system & resources.

As a result our immigration policies do not reflect the 21st century needs we have but rather an archaic system that has been outdated for nearly a century. The rules under which people are allow in need a major overhaul.
