Michael Larson developed a strategy to beat this game show, I have no idea how he figured it out but it has wrongly been reported he "cheated", which he did not. Whatever winnings you accumulated could all be lost if your spin lands on a "whammy", so most people don't do what the show is named, but this guy won over a $100,000 by doing just that. He figured out how to avoid the whammy.
The show did not want to pay him and I believe he had to sue them. He got his money, and he ended up losing it all or getting scammed out of it.
