I expected the Trump economy to be about the same as the Obama economy. GDP in the 2.2 to 2.7 range with occasional quarters higher or lower

But that was not enough for our President. He called that performance a disaster and promised not 3 percent but 4 percent GDP

So that is what I am holding Trump to

I served under Reagan, Bush Sr., and Clinton......................we did in fact get good pay raises under Reagan and his policies rebuilt the military that every President since him has had the benefit of.

Problem was they were Cold War purchases for a Cold War doctrine. Much of what we purchased was obsolete within a decade and the Armed forces wound down as the threat diminished

They made purchases during the COld War for the COld War, that only a few visionaries expected to end any time soon.


It was not a problem that the Cold War ended, it was a freaking miracle!


And of course the us military wound down as the threat diminished. Why is that a problem?

Point being, that most of the equipment we bought under Reagan did not end up being used. Doctrine changed from heavy armor and checkmate strategy to lighter, more mobile troops

It was used to deter aggression from the Soviets, it's primary mission.


And where do you think the heavy tanks and the fast transport ships GHWBush used in the FIrst Gulf War, came from?

We fought with what we had
But even Bush 41 started breaking down the forces after the Cold War ended. By the 90s we had a whole new doctrine and a whole new threat

You keep citing the fact that the collapse of our primary enemy caused a change in our military posture and spending as though it was a problem.
