Going to be a big door swinging in Washington DC

Ok everyone. Point taken. Maybe NYT took this out of proportion.
Maybe.

Just maybe.

:D

Ok ok ok....they absolutely did.

And I even included bold big colored font for emphasis ;)

(I can see I got egg on my face with this one)
You believed the Times. They were once a great newspaper -- no longer
The New York Times has not been a great newspaper since 1932.

"The New York Times has not been a great newspaper since 1932."

They now align themselves with Carlos Slim who sounds like a character from a bad Spaghetti Western.

The rightards can't seem to comprehend that the issue is not that they are pinked, but that he is refusing all grace periods and making no exceptions - a departure from normal precedents.

Now, if you can show us that Obama did that as well, I'd be interested in seeing your evidence.

You aren't paying attention. Depotoo already posted a link showing that Obama did the same. Wake up.

No one in their right mind would leave obama loyalists on the job any longer than absolutely required. They would all lay whatever bombs they could then run to the nearest media and whine.

Obama's last paycheck should be held in case he fucks up the whitehouse like the Clintons did

As they left the White House, the Clintons Defaced Walls, Stole Furniture and Much Much Worse

In 2001, the Clintons were moving out of the White House to make way for the Bush Administration. Not only did the Clintons steal furniture on their way out of the White House, but they did something far worse. It’s yet another reason why they should not be allowed to step foot in the White House AGAIN!

You don't think those Secret Service agents would not be assigned similar duties in Washington or wherever the President happens to be?

Most bring their families to the White House.

Most what?

Most presidents.

Really? That is why President Bush's daughter Jenna stayed behind in Texas to attend college, while her sister Barbara attended Yale?

They were grown then.

How many presidents did not move their families (spouse and minor children) in to the White House with them?

How many had school-age children? Clinton and Obama are the only modern examples of those with school age children I can recall or find. Most president's children were already grown. Bush having children in college was also a rare occurrence.

Clinton did not even own a home when he was elected, so staying in Arkansas would have been problematic.

Obama's kids attended the University of Chicago's Laboratory School, which was doubtless a benefit of Mom working there. Staying there with Mom was unlikely as Michelle desperately had an agenda as FLOTUS. Obama moved his mother-in-law into the White House also.

Ok everyone. Point taken. Maybe NYT took this out of proportion.

Not just the NYT, but the MSM and Google. Run a search and see what your MSM is pushing. THAT is why we "rightards" don't believe them. I hope you keep this in mind instead of automatically believing their propaganda in the future. It is pervasive. Journalism is dead. Welcome to the reality of DNC Pravda.

I don't agree with your analysis of MSM (and that includes Fox)- I find it's trustworthyness varies according to the agency and the topics they write about. Broadbrushing them is like broad brushing all liberals as libtards or all conservatives as conservatards. (and, frankly, I get sick of being termed "libtard"). The media is only as good as the readers willingness to apply critical thinking - which I didn't in this OP. Mea Culpa. The NYT article wasn't WRONG in the sense that every statement was factual- it wasn't "fake news" - nothing was made up. But it was presented in such a way as to imply this was something new and unprecedented, and that former administrations had acted differently so it was deliberately being deceptive.

The MSM essentially are now a collective Propaganda machine, they become more irrelevant each day. More and more people each day are dumping the MSM and are getting their information from a variety of Independent Media and many people in the Independent Media at one point used to work for the MSM but became so disillusioned by it they dumped it themselves.

Given what has just happened here would this not be a solid lesson in never taking anything the NYT prints or posts as fact until you've done further research? And when they willingly slant a story, actually lie, over something like this doesn't that call into question everything they choose to print and how they present it?

I guess my point is the NYT, your trusted source of facts and news has dumped you in an abyss of lies. Why would you ever trust another article from them?

I don't typically use NYT as a source (I prefer NPR) - but, I would say the same of Fox, and any number of other media outlets that can be biased. I admit I'm disappointed that NYT ran such a strongly slanted article and yes, I am more skeptical of them.

White House Vandalized In Transition, G.A.O. Finds

The General Accounting Office, an investigative arm of Congress, said today that ''damage, theft, vandalism and pranks did occur in the White House complex'' in the presidential transition from Bill Clinton to George W. Bush. The agency put the cost at $13,000 to $14,000, including $4,850 to replace computer keyboards, many with damaged or missing W keys.

Some of the damage, it said, was clearly intentional. Glue was smeared on desk drawers. Messages disparaging President Bush were left on signs and in telephone voice mail. A few of the messages used profane or obscene language.

''A Secret Service report documented the theft of a presidential seal that was 12 inches in diameter from the Eisenhower Executive Office Building,'' next to the White House, on Jan. 19, 2001, the accounting office said...

The accounting office confirmed that $9,324 had been spent to repair or replace various items and to clean offices. That included $4,850 for 62 keyboards, $2,040 for 26 cellphones and $1,150 for professional cleaning. In addition, the White House and the General Services Administration estimated that it cost $3,750 to $4,675 to replace missing doorknobs, medallions and office signs and the large presidential seal, the accounting office said.

And-

Clintons Return White House Furniture
After they were criticized for taking $190,000 worth of china, flatware, rugs, televisions, sofas and other gifts with them when they left, the Clintons announced last week that they would pay for $86,000 worth of gifts, or nearly half the amount.

Their latest decision to send back $28,000 in gifts brings to $114,000 the value of items the Clintons have either decided to pay for or return.

McDaniel discussed the matter Wednesday with Betty Monkman, the White House curator, and Gary Walters, the chief usher, or executive manager of the White House.

They were reviewing the gifts the Clintons chose to keep after $28,000 worth of items were found on a list of donations the Park Service received for the 1993 White House redecoration project. The Washington Post this week quoted three people who said that they assumed the furnishings they donated for the project would stay in the White House.

“As a result of questions about the status of certain property donated to the White House during the Clinton administration, the National Park Service will accept the return of the property in question and act as a custodian of such property,” according to a statement released by the Park Service, which administers the White House as a unit of the national park system.

A person familiar with the Clintons’ move out of the White House, who spoke on condition of anonymity, would say only: “They’ve been returned.”

No one in their right mind would leave obama loyalists on the job any longer than absolutely required. They would all lay whatever bombs they could then run to the nearest media and whine.

Kennedy, Carter, Bush, Clinton, Obama...Trump.

Kennedy's children were not school age.

Carter's child could not live in Atlanta in the Governor's Mansion, so she is out, just like Clinton. She had to change schools.

You already dismissed Bush's children.

That leaves Obama as the only one with the option and he didn't force Michelle to stay in Chicago and would have still had to change the girl's school!

Trump is the first one to do so and that makes it a 1-1 tie.

Why not quit while you are ahead? You are having a REALLY bad day!

In Break With Precedent, Obama Envoys Are Denied Extensions Past Inauguration Day
WASHINGTON — President-elect Donald J. Trump’s transition staff has issued a blanket edict requiring politically appointed ambassadors to leave their overseas posts by Inauguration Day, according to several American diplomats familiar with the plan, breaking with decades of precedent by declining to provide even the briefest of grace periods.

The mandate — issued “without exceptions,” according to a terse State Department cable sent on Dec. 23, diplomats who saw it said — threatens to leave the United States without Senate-confirmed envoys for months in critical nations like Germany, Canada and Britain. In the past, administrations of both parties have often granted extensions on a case-by-case basis to allow a handful of ambassadors, particularly those with school-age children, to remain in place for weeks or months.

...A senior Trump transition official said there was no ill will in the move, describing it as a simple matter of ensuring that Mr. Obama’s overseas appointees leave the government on schedule, just as thousands of political aides at the White House and in federal agencies must do. The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity about internal deliberations, said the ambassadors should not be surprised about being held to a hard end date.

The directive has nonetheless upended the personal lives of many ambassadors, who are scrambling to secure living arrangements and acquire visas allowing them to remain in their countries so their children can remain in school, the diplomats said. They spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to comment publicly on the matter.

W. Robert Pearson, a former ambassador to Turkey and a scholar at the Middle East Institute in Washington, said the rule was “quite extraordinary,” adding that it could undermine American interests and signal a hasty change in direction that exacerbates jitters among allies about their relationships with the new administration.

....Some expressed dismay that Mr. Trump, whose wife, Melania, has chosen to stay in New York to avoid moving the couple’s 10-year-old son, Barron, to a new school midyear, would not ensure that such allowances were made for American ambassadors.

They "shouldn't be surprised"? If it breaks with decades of precedent, they of course they would be surprised. No ill will? Really?

Not in this case. I know her from another board. She put up a point and defended it as best she could until it was obvious it wasn't correct and then said so. I have no problem with that. There are plenty of other's that wouldn't do the same in any circumstance. Let it go man. She deserves some kudos for coming around. As a bonus our point won right? No need to be an asshole about it when she conceded. Show a little class back and just accept the concession.

She's calling the source that was correct a fake news source but will not call the source pushing DNC propaganda fake news. It's because we are rightards to her as she stated.

Well, if you are breaking with the past and changing the culture of the way things are run/done...then this fits into place just like the last piece of a puzzle...to declare change without really meaning it means there will be no change or complaints, but to actually mean it means there will be a anywhere from moaning and groaning to screaming at the top of your lungs...."LOOK AT WHAT SHE/HE IS DOING!...when I was growing up in the 60s [the decade that replaced the 50's] the left reminded us constantly/daily that "the only unchangeable thing was change itself" and the ultra lefty with no voice bob dylan crooned that "times they are a changin"...in other words America was being told, "We control America now, get used to it"...hey BOB, how ya doin now?

Compare that with what Cont's article claimed ;) - As they left the White House, the Clintons Defaced Walls, Stole Furniture and Much Much Worse

And, similarly with the claim they stole all this stuff - while there is a "grain of truth" - there are also a lot of falsifications: Viral image claims Clintons stole $200k in furniture, china and artwork from White House
