Good news for American truckers thanks to Trump?

What? That is mind boggling to me. The logistics of a truck to truck transfer operation at the border would be overwhelming. I dunno about that one. It would be fantastic for American truckers but this feels like fake news to me.

It does seem horribly inefficient to transfer everything to a new truck

Until Obama raised the restriction on Mexican Trucks outside the 100 mile trade zone last year, it was always done that way.

It was agreed to by Bush though. But you are correct prior to 2011? Or 2001? All goods were transfered.

Funding was cancelled. Obama, via the USDOT restored the Mexican Trucking Pilot Program, and at the end of that 3 year program, allowed Mexican carriers to transport anywhere in the U.S. in July 2015

I don't lie scumbag. In all my years here I never have.

As to the op if this report is valid not only will it be a boon for American truckers, it will help staunch the flow of narcotics as well as illegals.

If this report is valid?
Early news reports are often wrong or true with inaccuracies. There are reports daily about the Trump transition or other news related to upcoming changes due to the transition of power that turn out to be false or inaccurate.
Quit playing stupid

So if you understand this then why are you floating something you heard but cannot verif if early news reports are innacurate?

And then moving to second base on what a positive move this is before you verify if it's legit?

But I had to Dr Mind bender your stupid ass to make my point for me.
You made the point? Really? I stated in the op the facts that it was reported & I was unable to find a link.
The only point you've made thus far is you are apparently giddy with excitement that it might not be an accurate report.

And you stated that most of the time first reports are innacurate. So you made my point for me.

I reported possible good news and you scramble to disprove it. Your motive is clear and we will just have to wait and see.

Could it possibly be just transferring drivers, not trucks? Would make more sense.

Apparently Mexico has agreed to stop their truckers at the border and transfer the goods to AMERICAN owned trucking companies to be delivered throughout the US.

I heard this on ABC news Radio but can not find a link as of yet.
Transfer all the stuff from a truck to another really seems uneconomical :eusa_think:
It's how it was always done pre 2011. Transfer stations are not uneconomical

Correction: You reported a rumor that you cannot verify. That's all I have said and you said that first reports are inaccurate. You said that, not me. I agree with that statement and your response is "you want bad news waa"

Remember, it was YOU who said initial reports are sometimes innacurate. I guess you want bad news, huh?

SOMETIMES

They are SOMETIMES correct too.

You started off implying I was making shit up so I don't give a flying fuck how you perceive my responses to you .

It may cost the producer slightly more in shipping costs but the jobs it would create for American truckers far outweigh that imo.

Could it possibly be just transferring drivers, not trucks? Would make more sense.

The Big Five (Swift, Schneider, JB Hunt, Werner and CR England) and some of the other large companies contract Mexican trucks to haul their trailers cross border for loading, which are returned and hauled by the U.S. Fleets. A lot of cargo is transported intermodally in containers that are moved from one truck to another easily.

Here is why NAFTA sucks writ small. A Mexican trucking company pays their drivers on average $80 a day (link) which is a good living in Mexico. An American driver is paid on average $140 a day, which is also a very comfortable wage. On average, the cost of living in Mexico is 58% less than the cost of living in the U.S. (see a correlation there?)

When American trucking companies are forced to compete with Mexican trucking companies that can pay wages significantly less than American companies must to retain good drivers, the outcome is entirely foreseeable. Mexican companies can haul for less and make more profits doing it.

And that my friends, in a nutshell, is the problem with both NAFTA and free trade in general...you can't compete with a nation that has a low cost of living than your country has without some form of protectionism.

Trade policy must level the playing field or American workers suffer.

Free trade is only great for the bottom line of large corporations. They build overseas, import, and increase their profits.

THAT is why it is so disappointing to see the the supposed pro-worker Democrats switch sides on TPP, not because they believe in it, but only because they have to score a win. TPP represents everything they supposedly opposed, but because their team was at bat, they cheered it on. If you think that didn't have a bearing on the recent election, think again.

They just switch trailers, not the entire truck. There are yards all over Laredo for companies like Sneider and Hunt and others; many are hauled by trains, and can go by rail to intermodal yards around the U.S. for that matter. Time sensitive freight would ideally go by truck, but as I said earlier the border crossings are a massive traffic jam anyway for big trucks, so there isn't a real problem here, no need to use Mexican trucks or drivers, except to drop the trailers at yards along the border, which they will still be able to do.

Short stubby runt or sister fucking freak?

Many of the "Mexican' logistics companies are already co-owned by American companies already. It's a myth that most of the freight coming over is 'Mexican', produced by Mexican companies, and represents 'trade with Mexico'. It is mostly American companies shipping themselves stuff from their Mexican plants and farms, and they get huge tax breaks and other bennies for it. The border crossings have been nightmares for years, and so have Mexican drivers in the U.S., so yeah, hopefully his administration does something about that, but billionaires don't really have truck drivers' sweatshop working conditions as in their Top 100 Priorities. Maybe the insurance companies are raising a stink now, who knows.

It's probably just more shit from China that lands in Mexico and ships up through our southern border.

Indeed, and lots of it, and through Canada also.

Just one article here, and of course reading the fine print U.S. taxpayers are funding a lot of it, since that's the only way for much of this crap to be profitable and stand on its own returns.

Red China Opens NAFTA Ports in Mexico | Human Events

http://www.fmc.gov/assets/1/News/St...rough_Canadian_and_Mexican_Seaports_Final.pdf

Here is just one 'initiative', disguised as 'crime prevention' but is really just a protection payoff to the Mexican govt. so the 'private company free traders' don't have to pay it out of their own pockets.

https://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/row/R41349.pdf

'Free trade' is great for your stockholders when you don't have to pay costs for 'doing business' in foreign shitholes and U.S. taxpayers are paying for keeping the local peasants in line and working cheap.

Oh yeah, and Mexico still gets to slap a 13% tax on American imports as well; they just call it an 'ad valorem tax' or something to disguise it. That way the U.S. taxpayers can get screwed two ways, by subsidizing companies to move there and gutting our own tax and wage base and building theirs up. Add in all the new construction for Federal interstates, police funding, prison costs, etc., etc., and the rest that goes along with 'free trade'.
