Rand Paul put a new spin on a familiar refrain that the Republican Party needs to broaden its base. He compared the GOP's need for change to a recent Domino's Pizza's campaign to improve the taste of its crust.

The Kentucky senator and potential 2016 presidential candidate told a packed crowd of students at the University of California at Berkeley on Wednesday that "the Republican Party needs to either evolve, adapt or die."

This isn't going over too well with the neo confederate wing of the party or the teahadists

Demographics alone says that the conservative social agenda will destroy their popularity, the RW christian bigots are aging fast. You get just a few more years to somehow convince the millinials that republicans do not hate them.

your posts are worth about as much as what you put in the toilet bowl

lol the demographics talking point assumes minorities will always be lemmings of the Left. i really dont think that is the case. the first Black President lost ground in virtually every special interest group that voted for him. slowly but surely as Progressives keep failing things will change

I don't think so but what do you think it will change to? Fiscal responsibility and honest politics? LOL.

Yes the exact opposite of the democrat party.

Rand Paul talks out of both sides of his mouth. He wants to distance himself from the morons and pander to them at the same time. The GOP will have to evolve. But, when you listen to what he says and look at what he does then its all a bunch of BS.

The Democrats don't see it coming but they will have to evolve as well.

If Rand was really a man to be taken seriously he wouldn't be backing McConnell for reelection....He proved to be just like his father of saying one thing while doing another.

Yes the time is running out for them, the old bitter white bible thumpers are nearing the end of their lives, this is their last hurrah.

oh my god leftard; if the right goes away who will you have left to blame left-wing failures on?

you'll have to resurrect the GOP just so you can continue making excuses for your record welfare and food stamps

True but the majority of American "Christians" are still not fundamentalists.

Additionally few of those Christians ever go to church, either

Q: How many people go to church each Sunday?

A: For years, the Gallup Research Organization has come up with a consistent figure — 40 percent of all Americans, or roughly 118 million people, who said they attended worship on the previous weekend. Recently, sociologists of religion have questioned that figure, saying Americans tend to exaggerate how often they attend. By actually counting the number of people who showed up at representative sample of churches, two researchers, Kirk Hadaway and Penny Marler found that only 20.4 percent of the population, or half the Gallup figure, attended church each weekend.

As added proof for the accuracy of this smaller percentage of churchgoers, if 20.4% of Americans (approximately 63 million in 2010) attended the nation's 350,000 congregations weekly then the average attendance would be 180 people per congregation which is almost exactly the figure that numerous research studies have found.

So one out of 5 American are Christian enough to attend church.

Where does it say in the constitution we cant have representatives that have faith or that we cant ourselves freely express it? Why is it always Atheists that seem to want to force their views on us?

That is strangely (or perhaps not so strangely) similar to the illusion Stalin's Soviets had about the old dying off and the young will bask in the glory of socialism. They forgot (as the complacent socialist-wannabe liberal Democrats are forgetting here) that those who raise their kids properly will always teach their children to remember what they learned at home and those kids who learned properly will remember what they learned.

This may come late in life and for some hopelessly clueless it may never come.

Time is running out for the Republican party I hear this a lot lately ironically I also heard the same thing about the Democratic party after the 2004 election did not turn out to be the case. So if the Republicans keep control of the House which is almost a given and takes the Senate which is highly possible the Republicans wont be as near death as some here like to think.
