When will Republicans realize that when dealing with democrats it is their way or the highway? There is simply no compromise. They also have to realize that Obama and Brown are experts on almost anything and their will should prevail. Not sure what committees do in Congress, maybe they could save a lot of time and just ask Brown or Obama what they should do. Yes, being a dictator would be easier.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – Gov. Jerry Brown said Monday that a Republican effort in Congress to address California’s unprecedented drought is an “unwelcome and divisive intrusion” in the state’s efforts to address the crisis by pitting water users against one another.

Brown, a Democrat, sent a letter Monday to leadership of the House Committee on Natural Resources and California’s entire congressional delegation asking them to oppose HR3964, which is scheduled to be taken up this week.

Why the Hell is the federal government getting involved in this? Let California deal with it on their own.

They can't deal with it. Its a perfect example of shedding responsibility, state to fed govt. A responsible state would be capable of solving problems like this. Dependent states can't.

If they can't deal with it, why is the Gov. having to step in and tell the federal government to butt out?

"Divisive" is liberal code meaning something that pisses off Democrats.

The federal government built most of the water projects in California that supply farmers with irrigation water. They control the water, so how can they not be involved in a solution to the problem?

One thing you have to keep in mind is that farmers generally vote Republican. That means Jerry Brown and Co. doesn't give a shit about their plight. He would probably like to drive them all out of the state and turn their land over to some good Democrat voting illegal aliens.

If only California was right by an ocean and could build desalination plants and have an unlimited amount of freshwater.

Desalinization is expensive and energy intensive. It's OK for drinking water, but for irrigating crops it simply isn't economical.

Build power plants and aquaducts. Problem solved, problem staying solved.

Republicans own the farms in the central valley. Repubs are feeling they won't make enough money without having unrestricted access to what water is available.

So the Repubs ultra rich voters went to the Repub Congresscritters they bought and wanted to make sure they had the water they wanted.

And Jerry said no.

Then we have to listen to the lying Repub assholes in Congress talking about how they value "states rights".

In other words, "fuck those Republicans up the ass."

That is so beautifully liberal!

Do you really want to pay $100/lb. for tomatoes?

I grow my own, so I'm good.

You can't have it both ways. Either California does what it needs to do to its infrastructure to ensure fresh water supply or they can continue to suffer drought after drought. It's decision time for Sacramento.

But they'll just avoid the hard decisions, cry, steal water from Nevada and in a few years we'll be right back here.

Congress has to get involved, as the Colorado River, one of California's main water sources, is a multi-state river, with multi-state agreements, as well as an international portion with corresponding international agreements.

Apparently, the farms aren't run by Monsanto, so the libs don't care.
