I'd say it's a fairly safe bet that every President we've ever had started out with that attitude, so Trump isn't unique in that regard.

It's his business experience and lack of experience holding public office that may be the largest factor that differentiates him from his predecessors, for better or for worse.

You may be right on the attitude, but Trump is a huge subscriber to 'exceptionalism' - if shit isn't working he's not going to play bullshit party games and refuse to make the changes that are necessary to /make/ it work.

We've not had a non-partisan candidate in my lifetime. Judging on the past is useless with Trump. He'll run himself into the grave before he'll let his name get sullied by a shit performance. His ego just won't allow him to 'give up' on making it happen. The left likes to rail on his "bankruptcies" in the 80s but they conveniently ignore that not only did he rally back up, but he surpassed himself. Trump's always been a fighter, he will fight.

In order to do that, he may have to ask Obama for much advice. He will want to abandon foolish calls for walls and Muslim bans...and he'll want to bridge the income gap.
