Americans use guns 2.4 million times a year to stop rapes, robberies and murders...according to the CDC....so how much money is saved when law abiding people use their legal guns to stop violent criminals from attacking and hurting them?

Gun Not Only Save Lives, They Save Money, Too - The Truth About Guns

Let’s very conservatively assume that in only 16% (the “almost certainly” group) of the nearly 1.5 million DGUs that probably occurred in 2012, the defender’s action saved injury or death (to someone innocent, even more commendable). If that occurred in 2012’s approximately 29% death to 71% injury ratio, these DGUs saved over 67,000 lives and 164,000 injuries.

This means, according to Mother Jones’ own assumptions, economic savings to this country—just from thwarting criminal assaults—of over $415 billion in lives plus $95 billion in injuries, totaling more than $511 billion in one year alone. That is over $1,600 for every man, woman and child, well over twice what we lose to all forms of firearm-related death and injury (homicide—justified or not, suicide, and accidents).

If one counts “probably would have,” let alone “might have,” we’re up to a trillion dollars in no time. We could add on the value of property not lost to theft, but that would just be rubbing it in, wouldn’t it?

There are plenty of assumptions here. But they are limited, and much more reasonable than the purposeful avoidance by anti-gun “researchers” and media of the actual, daily and widespread salvaging of lives that legal gunownership and use entail. Guns in civilian hands are invaluable to this nation.

Yeah, we can calculate how many lives are saved by guns in society.

Let's compare with the UK

List of countries by intentional homicide rate - Wikipedia

United States Crime Rates 1960 - 2016

The US had 17,250 murders for a population of 323 million in 2016. That's a 5.3 murder rate.

In the UK there were 518 murders in the year ending March 2015, that's a murder rate of 0.9

If the US had a murder rate of 0.9 then 2,929 people would have been murdered in the US.

This means there'd be a saving of 14,320 lives.

Yes, guns save lives.......... by not having them, you could be saving 14,320 lives PER YEAR, EVERY YEAR.

Again with the murder rate...you did not address the core question...

How did America's gun murder rate go down 49%....our gun crime rate went down 75%, as more Americans own and carry guns?

And what is happening in Britain...gun crime is up all over their country, after they banned and confiscated guns.

You refuse to answer the real question...

Americans use their guns 2.4 million times a year to stop crimes...according to the CDC....how many lives are saved in that number?

Again...please answer the question...how do you explain the gun murder rate going down 49% as more Americans own and carry guns? At the same time, why is the gun crime rate in Britain going up after they banned and confiscated guns?

Since Americans use their legal guns 2.4 million times a year, according to the CDC, to stop violent criminals....how many lives would be lose if those 2.4 million Americans did not use their guns to stop violent criminal attacks?

Those are some interesting numbers... I would submit that even if your stats were diametrically flipped showing a net expense... So What!!! It's our Constitutional right! Furthermore it is consistent with the preservation of our Natural rights... at least the 'Life' & 'Liberty' part.... and in the case of many, 'the pursuit of happiness'... lol
Let's apply that same frugal philosophy with the 30 billion or so it would take to build the wall... how many short years before it more than pays for itself in savings...

This is the most honest pro-gun argument I've ever heard here, unlike the OP, who spins every single fact and factoid into a pro-gun argument, true or not, and who doesn't understand math.

You CAN'T compare honestly with the UK. Not on population OR land mass.

Yep, and there's no correlation between private gun ownership and homicide when you look at more than two countries, like when you include Switzerland (vs UK) and El Salvador (vs USA).

Who would have thought that two countries on different hemispheres are not identical except in gun ownership and homicide rate...

...or that there are more than two countries on the planet.
