Well, that would drive wages down to rock bottom.

We have a long existing pathway to LEGAL citizenship.
It's known as Immigration and Naturalization Service - INS.

It starts with the person entering this country legally, with a Passport and Visa.
In addition, if they want to reside here, not just do a short visit, then they need to apply for and get a Green Card.
If they want citizenship, then there is a process they start with INS which will require background check, authentication they are who they claim to be, vetting of intent and associations, physical health check, study and pass they naturalization tests and interviews.

This legal process takes time and costs money, fees paid by the applicant. BTW, this makes INS the only self-funded Federal Agency.

Granting citizenship by fiat/decree of an elected hack is not only an insult to the tens of thousands that have done and paid for the legal process/system, it is also an insult to those born here as natural citizens.

Further such actions, in aiding and abetting illegal (law breaking) invaders would constitute law breaking on part of the politicians doing such as well as be grounds for treason = aiding and abetting enemies foreign and domestic.

Hong Kong was a case where the 99 year lease expired and CCP China declined to renew such.
One reason why Canada saw such huge influx of immigrants fleeing HK with what finances/capital they could before the door shut.

Both sides realize that immigrants are the only remaining option for America. It's just too obvious that neither side genuinely tried to interfere with the flow. Now they can both blame each other.

A large portion in the Dems and a small portion within the GOP blocked mainly by not approving funding for border barrier and enhanced Border Patrol. Combined with lack of resolve at the Executive level, mostly from the Dems.

One of many aspects is that "the flow" is coming from many nations more distant than Mexico, or Canada. Which means they also were illegal entrants to the nations they passed through or had aid from those nations. Also, 'someone' is paying for the food and transit expenses of the illegal invaders.

One effective solution, but not the only, would be to impose about a 50% tax upon any USA moneys; wire transfers, cashiers checks, money orders, that originate from within the USA and are being "cashed" in a foreign nation.
