IF the McConnell - Weird Old Guy tax cuts sunset, and hopefully they will because we need the revenue the cuts gave those making a lot (I'll leave that for others to define), we'd be back to the days of when you got a smaller standard deduction, but got to claim deductions for stuff like mortgage interest and charity.

IF that occurs, I'd guess something can be done. Someone (maybe Taser (- posted about how not taxing tips is itself unequal, since some people make a lot more in tips than others. And that was a good point, imo, or an unintended consequence.

You can claim a deduction for mortgage and charity now

Most people don’t because they get more of deduction from the standard deduction…thanks to trump and the gop
