When I first saw that pictures of some guy with a shot gun crouched down up on what appeared to be a viaduct, I figured that uber-patriot gun nuts had latched on to the controversy as a way to engage in their wish fulfillment that they're somehow protecting the nation. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if one of those guys might take a pot shot at a fed after nursing at a pint bottle of Jack Daniels.

Perhaps the thing that's the most disturbing is the sheer number of conservatives who are itching for a confrontation that results in shots being fired. That's what they actually want. How sick is that?

Oh, I think they were itching for a REAL confrontation. No doubt that's why the Feds withdrew because the confrontation was trained professional LE versus armed civilians whose behavior screams out that they wanted shots fired. I base that assessment on a report I heard that said the Feds told the crowd to stop advancing or they might shoot, and they kept on coming. So? If the Federal Gov't was interesting in a confrontation, they could have just stayed there and given the crowd just enough rope to metaphorically hang themselves. Hell, any recording of events likely would have shown the Feds as taking a defensive posture and only responding when they were threatened.

Did they give the American people back the land that they bought for pennies on the dollar? I seriously doubt it. Secondly, a cancelled project can be revived overnight when the conditions are more favorable.

The public lands that Bundy and 50 to 60 other ranchers used for grazing, was part of the mitigation for the turtle population that the project would endanger. To hell with cattle ranching when it comes to what is good for Dirty Harry and Son.

How do all the other ranchers go about their days without having armed stand-offs? Oh, they pay the taxpayer what they owe the taxpayer. It's pretty easy, it turns out. What's Bundy's problem? He's a freeloading parasite. He needs to be arrested and convicted, and his property auctioned off to more responsible citizens so we taxpayers can be reimbursed for what is rightfully ours.

As we revealed last Friday in an article that became the #1 news story in the world for 24 hours, the BLM specifically stated that it wanted Bundy and his cattle out of the area as part of the agency’s “regional mitigation strategy for the Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone.”

The BLM attempted a cover-up by deleting documents exposing the plan from its web site, but fortunately contributors at the Free Republic were able to save them for posterity.

Others have attempted to whitewash the situation by suggesting that the solar farm development was only limited to the shelved 2012 deal between Sen. Reid and Chinese-owned ENN Energy Group in Laughlin, Nev., but by reading the BLM’s own documents it is quite obvious that this is not the case.

“The BLM’s current action builds on the Western Solar Energy Plan, a two-year planning effort conducted on behalf of the Secretary of the Interior and the Secretary of Energy to expand domestic energy production and spur development of solar energy on public lands in six western states,” the BLM announced in a March 14 press release. “The Western Solar Energy Plan provides a blueprint for utility-scale solar energy permitting in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah by establishing Solar Energy Zones with access to existing or planned transmission, incentives for development within those Solar Energy Zones, and a process through which to consider additional Solar Energy Zones and solar projects.”
