Absolutely. The Red Guards are here. And they are trying to eradicate the same thing here as in China. The "four olds". There is a reason it was called the "Cultural Revolution". The Red Guards intended to destroy then rebuild a new Chinese cultures and society. They went so far as to dig up the corpses of previous leaders and cultural heroes and drag them through the street. They cleared libraries of "old" works written without Marxist sympathies. And they tore down and defaced statues dedicated to the past. It was cultural genocide. Like the leftists here are doing.

I did a quick look. The fed tax rate was about 20% for the average salary of 4200 dollars. That did not include tax write offs. Homes and children and other deductions. All the other taxes were much lower then. One person could afford a home and take care of a family. We ran more balanced budgets as the fiat currency had one last tie to gold. Homes were not investments then. Or to put it another way, we were not printing money out of the wazoo and using homes as a basis for inflation. They were something to live in and the value could even drop. Autos were two year loans I believe. Comforts for then were priced accordingly. Of course today we have more comforts. State, local, city taxes were massively lower then. Hidden taxes were lower. I am not saying they were the good old days. Technology has changed. That America was self sufficient though. We are a high tax state today and to employ American who would make more money in jobs here would mean higher prices for many of the products. But it would be worth it. Higher education would be forced to return.

If you spend a little time researching the US trade agreement with China, you will see that the US has made little progress. It is essentially a cease-fire agreement in what had threatened to escalate into an all-out trade war between the world’s two biggest economies. It is a truce not a trade deal. The US will continue with the same tariffs on Chinese goods as previously and China will continue with same restrictions on US imports. With Trump's Covid 19 accusations against China it is very unlikely that the Chinese will come back to the negotiating table anytime soon.
Like most of Trump's promises to negotiate better international agreements this one has fallen well short of the mark. At least he did something, unlike the cancellations of the Iran Nuclear Agreement, Paris global warming accords, the Trans Pacific Partnership and several other lesser agreements.

If you spend a little time researching the US trade agreement with China, you will see that the US has made little progress. It is essentially a cease-fire agreement in what had threatened to escalate into an all-out trade war between the world’s two biggest economies. It is a truce not a trade deal. The US will continue with the same tariffs on Chinese goods as previously and China will continue with same restrictions on US imports. With Trump's Covid 19 accusations against China it is very unlikely that the Chinese will come back to the negotiating table anytime soon.
Like most of Trump's promises to negotiate better international agreements this one has fallen well short of the mark. At least he did something, unlike the cancellations of the Iran Nuclear Agreement, Paris global warming accords, the Trans Pacific Partnership and several other lesser agreements.

Trump withdrew the US from the TPP which was composed of the fastest growing emerging markets and with the US departure, China moved in. China will soon own the markets in most of South East Asia. Africa which is regarded by economist as the economic sleeping giant will certain have major growth in 21st. China has about 10 times the presence as the US in Africa. In effect, Donald Trump has written off the rest of world, a mistake the US will pay for dearly in the coming years.

China is number 2 now and it won't take a lot to hit number 1. China has a fast growing middle class. In 1970, there was none. In 2004 it was 4%. Today it's 31%. Middle class households in China typically have enough income to satisfy their primary needs – food, clothing, and shelter with some disposable income left over for additional consumption and savings. Between 2001 and 2015, wages have increased an average of 11% a year. If economic growth continues at the current rate, they should be near 50% within 10 years which will equal the US.

You are talking eras of low to near no taxes to today's high tax state. A rising nation to one in decline. A republic to a Democracy teetering on tyranny. One with foundation and the earning of what each one had to comforts given away and paid by someone else. The Asians have had Mao and some clones. Not us. We will find that out. Not true. By a long shot. You use the Federal Income Tax which was higher for the richest. But grew higher from inflation and the massive amount of brackets of taxing the working man into servitude. There are massive taxes in state, local, city and regional ways. Hidden taxes galore. Social Security taxes, Medicare taxes, Products built from the ground up about 20% when added totally. Nickel and diming in every way they can get it. The Federal Tax today still ramps up quickly from the poverty line.

Some tax rates were higher but there were huge deductions available so some EFFECTIVE TAX RATES WERE LOWER.
