Have Republicans forgiven America for Social Security and Medicare?

We might be better off using liberal and conservative rather than Republican and Democratic to identify parties. Using parties that have changed over the years invites confusion and some posters like to play around with that confusion.
The Democratic party claims to be the original liberal party going back to Jefferson, but they also used the name Republican at one time, and until the present day Democratic party eased the Southern Democrats out of the party, has also caused confusion.

Like 'Liberal' and 'Conservative' have tangible meaning in today's politics...

It's always amusing to see partisans from both parties refer to votes and events decades ago or in the 1800's as leverage against the other.

The two parties have changed since then, and neither is terribly attractive to anyone other than the partisans.

So is all our labeling of people, parties, ideas, for naught? If we posters are unable to agree on labels, of what value are they? Think of the lives lost, money spent, political careers made and destroyed by someone simply labeling someone, a nation or something, communistic. Why Vietnam?

Wrong. Republicans are 90% white. That alone makes them very attractive to the KKK and the Aryan Nation and other such white supremacists groups.

The Democrats are everyone else and that makes it a true coalition party.
