People who don't believe Sanders can win over a Republican
are going to be pressured to support Clinton on name recognition alone, to stand a chance
against Republicans who have a name or image the public can recognize and relate to.

It's a gamble either way, same with supporting Trump.
He's as much a wild card, and as many people are afraid he will turn off voters and lose to Clinton.

People back off from risky candidates if they
can't gauge if the public will support them at the polls enough to win.

Will the average voter support Sanders? When people are calling him a commie leftist?
Will the average voter support Trump? When people are calling him an arrogant racist?

The Republicans were prepared to face a similar battle:
Either go with a more known name Bush but then risk alienating
rightwing voters who won't vote for Bush because they say he might as well be a Democrat
on immigration; or if they take a chance on the popularity of Trump, what if that
isn't enough to win against Clinton, etc.

Capitalism is a free society because anybody can participate in capitalism. Who is stopping you from investing in the stock market, the commodities market, the bond market, the real estate market? Nobody.

The one with 60% losses in my 'safe' stocks before I had to cash it out to pay medical bills my insurance company wouldn't pay because my previous employer illegally fired me. So I can honestly say I "participated" in a rigged game and got screwed.

You go to work everyday thinking that a job was created for you to have a standard of living. You never depended on anybody but your employer in which you feel he hasn't given you enough. And when you don't have enough (whatever that is) you blame somebody else instead of yourself.

You see is where you guys get confused. The "capitalist" didn't create my job. My job was created by other workers and consumers having demands that my labor fills. The problem with Capitalism, as Herbert Hoover observed the previous time they were allowed to run amok, is Capitalists- they're too damned greedy. They've spent the last 40 years dismantling the middle class, and then wonder why they can't sell as many TV's and Cars and other crap as they'd like.

While you cannot appreciate our valuable capitalistic system which allows a person to be anything they desire, people are sneaking into this country because of that very same system. Take note that they don't do the same with Cuba or North Korea where government controls everything just like you want it to be here.

No, guy, we don 't have hundreds of North Koreans sneaking into this country. And the only reason why Cubans risk sneaking in is because we had a 50 year policy of bribing them to do it. (And Castro occasionally empties out his prison and mental hospitals on us. That was hilarious.) What we do have is millions of MEXICANS sneaking into this country because big corporations have turned theirs into a shithole. The kind of shithole you guys would turn this one into.

Our economy is cyclical, it goes up and down. It doesn't matter who is in office, it usually doesn't matter about their policies. The policies can often enhance or diminish the length or intensity of the cycles but the cycles always happen... they are like waves in the ocean.

Reagan's tax policy stimulated expansion and growth in a time where we needed that badly. Our dismal economy rebounded and soared for the remainder of his two terms into his predecessor's term. Republicans who followed Reagan didn't understand his economic and started undoing the things he did and stopped pushing for the things he wanted to additionally do. When the next cyclical downturn happened as everyone knew it eventually would, it was handled in a way Reagan would have never approved or supported.

Then why does it seem that recessions ONLY happen when Republicans are in charge? Other than the recession that started on Jimmy Carter's watch, every other recession since the end of WWII has been on - wait for it- a Republican Watch. Ike had three. Nixon had two, FOrd had one, Reagan had one, Bush had one, Bush-II had 2.

The reality is, Recessions aren't a flaw of Republican Capitalist economy, it's a design feature.
