An M 16 I think but it could have been a 14

Ha ha m16 armalite 5.56 selectfire composite stock gas operated small light weight light recoil. M14 7.62x51 nato rimless walnut stock heavy barrel nearly twice the weight of the m16
If you want to see one in action watch the batroom scene in full metal jacket. You never shot either or you would know every component from buffer to gas port. That Is a requirement along with a timed field strip and reassembly. Damn how do you people think your BS will pass.

I spent a good deal of my time at GQ's in a 5 inch gun on a destroyer. Your post made me laugh. I was the projectile man, putting a 5 inch projectile into the breach ahead of a very large brass casing filled with black power.

BTW, for small arms I was assigned to one of the BAR's. Can you guess why?

Really black powder how old are you, most charges are either ammonium nitrate for he projectiles and a charge of a more stable grade of the same compound used in primers.

71 years old. Separated in 1969.

And believe in socialism as the future of this country? As for the BAR most times it is issued to a taller person with stronger than average arms able to hold the weight and absorb the pretty heavy recoil.

At 19 I was 6'2" and about 215 pounds; today I'm 6' 1.5" tall and 230 pounds. That's why I asked if you could guess why.

They assign stronger people the BAR, old man.
