Phillips, a onetime presidential candidate who ended his long-shot bid for the White House in March, made the entreaty after Trump was found guilty of falsifying business records to cover up a payoff to a porn star who said that she’d slept with Trump — an affair that Trump has denied.

“Donald Trump is a serial liar, cheater, and philanderer, a six-time declarer of corporate bankruptcy, an instigator of insurrection, and a convicted felon who thrives on portraying himself as a victim,” Phillips wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “[Hochul] should pardon him for the good of the country.”

Wow, that's the dumbest suggestion that I've heard in a long time! If we really are a nation of laws - prove it! What if he's also convicted in one or more of the three remaining more serious cases against him? What do you think?

Well, anything you think is stupid deserves serious consideration.

The attempt to prosecute Trump out of the Presidential race is weak and destructive, regardless of his guilt or innocence. The wise thing to do would have been to nominate a consensus candidate, one who could have easily defeated Trump in the election, then prosecute the bastard and put him in jail, or house arrest or whatever.

Instead, Democrats have created the martyr narrative that Trump needs to win. And he probably will.
